The timing couldn’t have been any better for ExtraTorrent.com. In the wake of shocking news that rocked the P2P community with The Pirate Bayselling out and even removing its tracker from public torrents; and Mininova filtering out illegal content - torrenters are being forced to move on to greener pastures. ExtraTorrent.com is one such torrent site that has picked up the pace, quickly skyrocketing to become one of the Internet’s top contenders among public torrent indexers.
Don’t count the Swedes out just yet. While Antipiratbyrån’s late-April scare tactic forced more than just a handful of private sites to either close up shop entirely or legalize/remove torrents - Sweden has rebounded en masse, stronger than ever. TTi.nu regrouped and began to offer a regular staple of 0day torrents once again, others released their source code for future aspiring startups - proof that Sweden has officially made a triumphant return to the BT scene. And if trends can tell us anything, the number of new Swedish torrent sites can only suggest that it’s business as usual for Nordic private trackers.
Looking for a fresh torrent forum serving up invites? PTInvites.com is a lesser-known private tracker invite forum that’s managed to keep a low profile. Starting up as early as last August, PTI began very privately but only this year has taken strides to increase the membership - which now stands at 738 - not bad for a torrent forum that no one’s even heard about. Registration is currently open.
Our good friend Hangman over at Valadiléne.org is writing a series of tutorials beginning with Part 1 on How to Create a Torrent Tracker with PHP and XBTT, and wanted to share his knowledge with FSF readers. If there’s enough demand, the series will be expanded to include future coding goodies including ratio system, upload form with torrent validation, and search engine. We recommend all aspiring tracker developers to stay tuned into his blog; surely there’s more interesting tidbits to come. Hangman is also the brain behind the new tracker vgmTorrents.net, which is actually based on WordPress as a frontend…
If there’s one private tracker that musicians need to be a part of, it’s PianoSheets. Their invite system has virtually been nonexistent for what seems like forever, without offering the opportunity for aspiring new members to get in - but that’s all about to change with their official relaunch. Since recently switching over to Gazelle after months of painstaking beta testing, PS.org is now finally ready for the masses - here’s how to find an invite.
There’s a tongue-in-cheek joke around the private tracker circuit that any music tracker trying to make it as a no-ratio site is doomed to failure. Certainly this holds true with last year’s disastrous iPWN fiasco, which nary a soul was surprised about. More recently, it was FaceTheMusic’s turn - while promising; it too, inexplicably dropped off the radar. Even CoExist hasn’t been exempt from the curse, and never seemed to make it out of beta. After a fresh new domain change - CoExist.bizv2 has launched a new era in music on BitTorrent - raising the bar for ratioless music trackers.
Whether you fancy obscure films, architectural software, XBOX games, iPhone apps, BluRays, HD documentaries, anime, 80’s cartoons, porn, textbooks, magic tricks or just about every audio recording ever made - there’s bound to be a private torrent tracker out there that carries it. With even a minimal amount of perseverance, just about anyone should be able to find a way into at least 95% of these private trackers - if you know how & where to look. Here’s a few tips devised to set you on the right path to tracker enlightenment.
No one can deny the legacy left behind by P2PTalk on the private tracker invites circuit. P2PTalk spawned spinoff sites that include Digital Raider and the impossibly popular Pirate Society - to name just two. Now, ex-P2PTalk staff have reassembled and created a slick new BT forum at www.etiv.in (in.vite, get it?). Etiv is a forum completely concerned with invite giveaways, recruitment and tracker news & discussion.
After more than two months of intense work, AnimeByt.es has finally launched. AnimeByt.es is a community-oriented site that doubles as both an Anime tracker and a Japanese music tracker - all rolled together into one. Because Anime is mostly episodic, most trackers have a difficult time keeping content well-organized. That’s where Gazelle comes in, with its advanced tagging system and grouping features. Combine this with exceptional custom coding which serve to link both the anime & music torrents, and you’ll see why AB is an anime tracker unlike any other.
For more than two years now and still going strong, TorrentInvite.com has established itself as one of the leading tracker invite & discussion boards. Like many torrent boards, TI is considered semi-private (that is, registration is generally not open to the public). But for a limited time, Omega and the rest of the crew over at TI are running a FSF promo for aspiring new members.
