It’s matter-of-fact that almost all BitTorrent sites carry movie torrents (if they know what’s good for them), and it’s not too difficult to find the High-Def (HD) video files in most cases. A simple query for x264 or 720p turns up some sweet LCD-friendly results in a public BitTorrent search engine. But very few (if any) offer a category devoted to HD - everything is just jammed into that VIDEO MOVIES pigeonhole. If you love HD as much as us, we feel your pain - finding a steady stream of high-res film releases on public BitTorrent sites is about as difficult as finding a Toshiba HD-DVD player that’s NOT on sale these days.

Private sites that strictly offer only HD releases fill a niche-market for us videophiles. Never again do we have to wade through pages and pages of miscategorized publicly-submitted flicks — all the while using every known trick-in-the-bittorrent-book to filter out the lowly KVCDs from the HDRips. Without further ado, we present a list of Private BitTorrent sites that exclusively deal in high definition video torrents.

We agree that the list is rather small, and the good ones aren’t regularly open to new signups. So to avoid feeling like we ripped off our viewers, we’ve come up with some tips & tricks for finding HD video - posted at the bottom.

Other HD Tips

Here are some other (non-torrent) solutions for finding HD releases.

— http://www.rlslog.net - This is both a BitTorrent site and a Direct Download Link (DDL) site that offers many newer HD/Blu-Ray/x264 releases - 121 at last count. TIPS: For DDL links, look to the bottom of the “article” for each movie (be sure to read the posted ‘user comments’ as these often contain the most recent good links). For BitTorrent, look for a torrent link in each movie listing - it will appear like this:

— Use an IRC Search Engine to find HD files. For example, IRCDig.com came up with over 250 results for the query “x264″. Change the search parameters to Blu-Ray, HDDVD, HDTV etc. for additional results.

— Use a good DDL meta-search site to find Direct Download Links from RapidShare. For example, rapidshare-search-engine.com generated thousands of DDL links for the keywords “HDDVD”, “Blu-Ray” and “HDTV”. Not only that, but the results show the host DDL site, which you’ll be able to visit and browse.

— Got Usenet access? There’s a ton of High Definition files posted there. Use NZB search sites such as www.magnatic.com.
