Using ‘C4C Firefox Extension’ to find Open Torrent Sites

The ‘Check4Change’ (aka…C4C) Firefox Extension is yet another method to find private BitTorrent sites that are open to new signups.

Advantages: C4C can work with text on signup pages that are manually loaded into the browser that ‘Open Registrations Checker’ can’t access.

Disadvantages: The browser (or tab) cannot be closed, or else the service stops running on it.

How It Works

C4C checks a loaded Firefox webpage (or tab) for any information that may have changed on the page. It works like this: Highlighted text is monitored by Check4Change, and any changes to it are then reported back to you. Pages/tabs are reloaded at chosen time intervals - if C4C notices any changes to the selected text, a notification message will appear in the taskbar.

1. Download the C4C extension. Click “Install Now” - restart Firefox when prompted.

2. Launch a desired “signup.php” page - for example, http://bitme.org/signup.php. Highlight some text that will likely become affected if/when the site changes the page. Right-click, and select “Check4Change”, and select a ‘Check every…’ number. Users can also select ‘Custom‘ for more options, such as audio notifications, customized time intervals, etc.

3. For that tab, the favicon image will have changed to reflect that C4C is active:

Repeat 2 & 3 for as many tabs/sites as you like! By default, when Check4Change finds a change to the signup page, a simple notification will appear in your taskbar:

NOTE: C4C will automatically refresh the page/tab for the chosen time intervals, so manual refreshing is not required.

C4C Recommendations

Create a “new window” in Firefox for the sites that you want to check (i.e. File…New Window). Load up five (or more) signup pages of private sites that you wish to get into (in 5 different tabs), and run C4C on all of them. Minimize this window, and use the other Firefox window for your regular browsing. This saves a lot of clutter in your active Firefox window.

hmm… but it requires a manual task of going into EACH and EVERY tracker sign-up page and then add it to the Check4Change extension and that sucks… i cant waste my time doing that. Its better to use Open Registrations Checker because its simple nothing to config just select and go, if TEAM ROOTS provides auto update feature then it will be a Universal application :)
