Review and Comparison of TorrentFlux Hosting Services
May 04, 08 by sharky 16,956 viewsWith the increasing popularity of seedboxes, more and more Seedbox Hosts are incorporating TorrentFlux pre-configured into their plans. Here’s a list of providers that specifically offer TorrentFlux hosting accounts. Services range from $2 to $200, depending on options.

Comparison of ‘TorrentFlux Hosting’ Services:
All Seedbox Hosting sites listed below come with TorrentFlux built into their service, and come with FTP/SFTP/RSync access to your directory. All features and plans listed below are a representation of their ‘barebones’ (cheapest) packages, unless otherwise stipulated.
http://seedboxhosting.com
Seedboxhosting is the only seedbox provider in the list that offers unlimited bandwidth and unlimited number of torrents, in one low price. For $47 bucks a month, you simply can’t find a better service or support team. For anyone who’s seriously into TFlux seedboxes, this is the only way to go. Unless, of course, you want to shell out $200 a month for a dedibox. Unlike most other TorrentFlux services, users have Admin access to their account - this allows for complete control of your seedbox - including adding other users, adding RSS feeds from private trackers, and the ability to fine tune your seedbox settings. Total control with no surprises.
Our Recommendations: We tested it, liked it, and kept it. Our seedbox is assuredly speedy, with regular speeds easily clocking anywhere between 3000 - 5000 KB/s, and “burst” speeds are even higher. Accounts on their servers are never oversold, and we’re able to easily seed 50 or more torrents and keep the ’server load’ below 1.0 - great for managing a colossal number of private tracker accounts simultaneously, and maintain great ratios on all of them.

$47 clams still too steep for you? No problem! You’ll be able to create sub-accounts for other users, so that you can share the monthly cost between you and friends. With a money-back guarantee and prices that can’t be beat - you can’t go wrong with SeedboxHosting. We have a winner!

Other features include:
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | Unlimited |
| Number of Active Torrents: | Unlimited |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered / no speed cap on transfers. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | Package #1: 250MB RAM / 50GB hard drive space. Package #2: 500MB RAM / 100GB hard drive space. |
| Pricing: | $47/mo. & $87/mo. No setup fees, no hidden costs, no contracts. |
| Shared Accounts? | Yes - Multiple sub-accounts are allowed. |
| Extras: | Money-back guarantee; cancel anytime; Dedicated IP address; servers are on 1 GB pipes. |
Seedboxhosting has recently obtained a fresh batch of new servers to accommodate the high demand. Presently there is no waiting list for these great boxes - get yours now!

http://jmhservices.com/seed.htm
Aside from offering ‘highly modified’ TorrentFlux scripts, JMH Services also supports the µTorrent-WebUI alternative to managing torrents. Presently they offer a variety of packages, although custom plans are available. Prices start at $49/mo for a modest 1000GB throughput with a 45GB hard drive (with a very low maximum of 4 users per server - a great added bonus).
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 1000 GB |
| Number of Torrents: | Unlimited |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered / no speed cap |
| Memory / Drive Space: | 45 GB hard drive space, RAM is a ’shared pool’ setup (with excess for everyone). |
| Pricing: | Starting at $49/mo. $199/mo. Setup fees apply to premium accounts only. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | No. One user per account. |
| Extras: | Training & Support, 99.999% Uptime Guaranteed. Account setup in about 30 minutes. |
Trial Run: We took JMH for a test drive with their basic shared package, and they did not fail to impress! Download speeds were a sustained 6,000 KB/s, and it took just 3 minutes to download two…count ‘em…two 700MB movies. Want proof? See the screenshot below.

We asked JHM Services how they could manage such high speeds. They said, “We offer premium bandwidth not second or third tier connections. While the HTTP transfer is OK the real speed comes with FTP using a multi-threaded client. We get a lot of repeat customers that go elsewhere because of the price but many come back after a month or two.” — We can see why!
http://torrentswift.com
TorrentSwift features six packages to choose from - starting at a mere $10/month. All servers are connected to a 100mb/s line, and we’ve seen burstable speeds that easily surpass 8,000 KB/s. As with most TFlux plans, downloading your completed torrents back to your home PC is always free (and not counted against the plan bandwidth).
There’s a TorrentSwift hosting package designed for just about every BT user, and accounts are set up in under 24 hours (usually in 6 - 12). For seedbox users that are just starting out, try their $10 ‘Basic’ or $30 ‘Power’ package. For the serious seeder/heavy BT user, there are two plan options that offer a dedicated server (no shared resources - it’s just you on the machine) which incorporate between 1 & 2 GB RAM with either a 300 or 600 GB hard drive - both of these packages include unlimited bandwidth/resources.
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 150 GB - Unlimited (depending on plan). |
| Number of Torrents: | Unlimited** |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered - no cap on transfer speeds. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | 10 - 600 GB drive space (depending on plan), 8 GB RAM shared on server. |
| Pricing: | $10 to $199. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | No. Unless you share the ‘login’ info - this is OK. |
| Extras: | Our Tested ‘Burst speeds’: over 8,000 KB/s. |

**There is no hard limit for the number of torrents allowed. If an excessively large number of torrents need to be run simultaneously we may enable the queue manager, but normally the storage / transfer limit is fine.
http://leasetorrent.com
LeaseTorrent is one of the most affordable TF Host in the group, but not cheap on service. At the time of testing there was a ‘waiting period’ for new accounts, due to popularity. We jumped on the ‘wait list‘ and received notification 10 days later suggesting that there was an opening.
Trial Run: We took them for a spin, and shelled out £3 plus and additional £2.5 for an extra 50GB ‘uploading’ bandwidth. Download speeds were very zippy indeed - we managed to get ’sustained’ speeds of 5,600 KB/s. LeaseTorrent is a great opportunity to fix a bad ratio in a hurry, without breaking the bank to do it!
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | Varies. £3 gets 5 GB; £2.5 extra = 50 GB |
| Number of Torrents: | Varies. Extra “torrents” start at £1.5 ea. |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered / 300 KBs upload cap. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | Variety of configurations, unknown amount of RAM. |
| Pricing: | £3 a month. (Plus extras) |
| Shared Accounts OK? | No. One user per account. |
| Extras: | Offers 3 server locations, highly customizable configurations. |
LeaseTorrent doesn’t have different “plans”, just one configuration but available upgrades can (and should) be purchased separately. One thing to note: The £3 account comes with 1 torrent, and seeding is only available to “100%” - you’ll need to purchase some extra GBs if you want to seed past 1:1. Also note that uploading is capped at 300 KB/s.

http://www.br-hosting.com/en/
BR-Hosting is a newer webhosting company that offers a variety of entry and mid-range TorrentFlux accounts. Their ‘value’ account at $15 offers 2 active torrents with 600 GB of monthly bandwidth - a very respectable starters’ account.
Extra bandwidth can be purchased at $4 per 100 GB, although it’s highly unlikely to be necessary for their packages #3 - 5 (7 TB of throughput is plenty!) At last check, they had open slots for new accounts (no waiting list).
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 600 GB - $15 plan. |
| Number of Torrents: | 10 GB. - see plans below. |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered - no cap on transfer speeds. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | Variety of configurations, 4 GB RAM shared for each server. |
| Pricing: | $15 for Starter account $65 for “Pro - Package #5″ |
| Shared Accounts OK? | Shared accounts - yes (through FTP is OK). No “sub-accounts”. |
| Extras: | Offers 5 server locations |
Trial Run: We were lucky enough to take BR-Hosting for a test drive on their Xeon Quad Core server - and VROOM! Sustained speeds topped in at around 2,000 KB/s, with burst speeds in excess of 7,000 KB/s.

http://w00tsite.com
W00tsite offers 4 different TorrentFlux plans with prices ranging between $15 - $30, and accounts are fully configurable and upgradable. Speeds are great - they have a test link for users to verify speeds, and a server statistics button available to anyone who wants to view the details.
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 50 - 200 GB. |
| Number of Torrents: | 5 to 20 — depending on plan. |
| Speed: | 100mbit - no cap on transfer speeds. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | 50 GB - 200 GB |
| Pricing: | $15 - $30 plans. Extras optional. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | Likely. Multiple FTP accounts allowed. |
| Extras: | Dedicated IP, Complete Admin Access (SSH, cPanel, TF admin) is available. |
Bandwidth is the only Achilles’ heel to w00tsite. Their best package (#4) only allows for 200 GB monthly throughput, and extra can be purchased for $15 per 100 GB, or $40/mo. for unlimited. Any serious torrenter will probably require the ‘unlimited’ option, which spikes the overall price rather sharply.

http://seedm8.com
SeedM8 offers a huge list of TorrentFlux services, in three categories of plan options: Q Plan, Standard, and Premium plans. ‘Standard’ and ‘Premium’ accounts operate a little differently through an ‘RAQ’ system, whereby bandwidth management can be highly configured for each torrent, although we found this a little confusing at first. If you’re brand-new to the TorrentFlux/seedbox scene, we recommend that you opt for the “Q Plan” option - this mimics most of the other TF services out there.
Notes: SeedM8 has ‘caps’ imposed on both the upload and download transfer rates (speeds) for all of their plans - so choose wisely. However, all plans come with a modest number of active torrents and unlimited monthly bandwidth - this may be ideal for users who are more concerned about a “slow and steady” scheme to buffering private their private trackers, without paying premium prices to do it.

http://escapehosting.com
EscapeHosting is one of the most affordable TorrentFlux Hosting of the bunch - with plans starting at just $4. If you’re looking for a ‘temp’ TorrentFlux account, then this is the way to go. Be advised of the low monthly bandwidth on each account - this is not a serious ’seeders’ solution.
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 15 - 200 GB. |
| Number of Active Torrents: | 3 only. |
| Speed: | 100mbit - no cap on transfer speeds. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | 1 to 10 GB accounts. |
| Pricing: | $3 - $22 plans. Extra “upgrades” can be seen on signup screen. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | Shared FTP access OK. Unknown if “sub-accounts” are OK. |
| Extras: | Dedicated IP is $5 extra, customized plans available. Multiple FTP accounts included. 99.9% Uptime. |
Notes: More bandwidth is available on request at $1 for 10 GB or $10 for 110 GB.

http://seedboxworld.net
SeedBoxWorld offers great plans and a professional service - they’re not those dreaded resellers that oversell accounts. One of SBW’s plans that’s worth mentioning is their Seedbox-1 plan for £17 (or $34 USD) which offers unlimited bandwidth (and ‘admin’ access through TorrentFlux), plus you’ll be able to issue additional accounts (think: share/resell to friends). Their VPS systems are based on more of a hardware virtualization and not software based, they do not oversell, and their VPS machines (Xen) are allocated from the resources from the main node, and then it’s reserved for VPS no matter if it used or not.
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | Unlimited on all accounts. |
| Number of Torrents: | 4 to unlimited, depending on plan. |
| Speed: | Unmetered bandwidth on 100mbit server |
| Memory / Drive Space: | 10 to 50 GB, depending on plan - more can be arranged. |
| Pricing: | Many plan options: £10 - £50/month. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | On some TFlux accounts - Windows/VPS (i.e. WebUI) accounts have total control, plus root access. |
| Extras: | Accounts can be customized for any need. |
Notes: The uTorrent Packages they offer are full Windows XP Pro VPS (virtual machine) with uTorrent installed. They have full remote desktop and Administrator rights and a dedicated IP.

http://Sciclonehost.com
Sciclone Hosting is one of the more expensive Seedbox Hosts in our reviews, but for good reason. They offer premium servers in a variety of configurations - suitable for the ’serious’ TorrentFlux user. Update: They’ve recently acquired a boatload of new equipment and are offering seedboxes again.
| Monthly Transfer Bandwidth: | 1000 - 1500 GB. |
| Number of Torrents: | Unlimited. |
| Speed: | 100mbit unmetered - no cap on transfer speeds. |
| Memory / Drive Space: | RAM - 256 MB to 4 GB. Hard drives: 80 - 320 GB. |
| Pricing: | $59 - $239 plans. Servers are fully customizable. |
| Shared Accounts OK? | YES - Multiple “sub-accounts” are OK. |
| Extras: | 3 IP’s per server; support is included; 99.9% uptime is guaranteed. |
Notes: Email andrewngo1760@gmail.com for more TorrentFlux information and current availability.

http://titahost.com
TitaHost is in the process of launching an entirely new line of TorrentFlux services, with new hardware and added bandwidth. Check back at their site for updates, although they are unofficially “open” to new TorrentFlux customers. Plans start at $1, and range up to $40.
To order, check out their ’shopping cart’ - here’s the link:
http://www.titahost.com/clients/cart.php?gid=0000000017

http://www.santrex.net/
Santrex offers both TorrentFlux and uTorrent WebUI seedbox solutions, with servers hosted Germany, US and France (which you can choose). All plans come with unlimited monthly bandwidth.

http://www.torrentfluxhost.com
TorrentFluxHost offers a variety of TFlux plans, starting at just $5 USD. Their $5 plan includes 2GB hard drive space, unlimited bandwidth & a max of 5 running torrents - although the upload rate on this account is capped at 100 KB/s.
http://www.getbyte2u.com
GetByte Services also doesn’t sell TorrentFlux seedboxes anymore, but offers FTP servers and the µTorrent-WebUI interface for torrent transfers. Prices range from $15 to $50 - we recommend a “Seeder Package”. See their signup page for pricing and availability.
http://mybox.pfcorner.eu/
PFCorner sells seedboxes that support the µTorrent WebUI platform. Prices range from €5 to €110/mo. in a variety of configurations. Email sb-admin@pfcorner.nl for questions, suggestions and orders.
Project WhatBox
Something else that’s worthy of mentioning is What.cd’s internal seedbox service, titled “Project WhatBox”, which includes various resellers who are sharing and splitting up the costs of seedboxes with other members. Pricing varies, and begins at around $15/mo. It goes without saying that you’ll need an account at What.cd in order to view the threads listed below:

$199/mo. Setup fees apply to premium accounts only.

‘m afraid your 5-star rating for JMHservices is misplaced: their “much modified Torrentflux script” is, as far as the UI goes, bog standard uninformative TF2.1. When I complained about it they installed TF b4rt, which would have been great had they bothered to warn me that they were going to do so. Instead they failed to answer my emails “where’s my server gone” while it was offline. Also they lost 3 active Torrents plus a file I’d been ftp’ing up for 19 hours, incompetently so as the b4rt instal can save existing files, then finally got stroppy when I wanted to know where my files were & issued a partial - not full - refund!
So be very, very careful before risking your money or your files anywhere near these cowboys.

025 • joey Says: 03.06.08 at 4:02 pm
http://wewillhostit.com/
WeWillHostIt is pretty weak these days…I sent them an email about getting my money back because their service is poor but they haven’t replied after 4 days.
The problems with them are that when you download from their server to your PC I can’t even max my connection out….I get 300k max from them….whereas from seedm8 I can max my connection of 350k. Also when you download from their server the resume function works in FTP but not in a program such as Internet Download Manager….again the resume function works perfectly fine on seedm8. Those 2 factors right there are enough for me not to sign up with them for a 2nd month.
Their torrentflux webui is super slow….it’s gotten faster over the last day or so but still is the slowest webpage I’ve browsed in a long time. My first day with them it was absolutely crawling and there was even a period of 5 hours where I couldn’t even log into the account….and even yesterday there was a brief period of time where again I could not load the page it was so goddamn slow.
Their speeds I can’t comment on too much because I haven’t really had the chance to test them out all that much but from what I have seen they are nothing spectacular….and even if they are…all those things already mentioned above bring down their score majorly…I would avoid these guys for the time being until they get their shit together….and if you really have to try them out then go with the $8 plan…that way you can test them out and it won’t cost you too much if you don’t like them…as for me…I have completely lost patience with these guys.
026 • joey Says: 03.06.08 at 4:07 pm
HAHA!! to add to my above post….it looks like they have suspended operations for the time being….they claim to have sold too many accounts and now aren’t charging people enough money…yeah no kidding…maybe you should consider selling less of them and giving better service rather than bullshit people about your service.
They think their service is too cheap??? LOL!! What they are offering isn’t worth the advertised price…if anything they should be lowering prices. Oh well….at least they had the good sense to not sign up more people…maybe now I can at least get my months worth of service that I bought.
027 • sharky Says: 03.06.08 at 9:29 pm
Yeah, they’ve been going through some hard times, and a few days ago I removed them from this post. I didn’t think they needed any more business, when they couldn’t even provide decent service to the customers they had. I didn’t just take them for a test-drive - I actually paid for a month’s service - and it became detrimental to the health of my private trackers ‘ratios’ . So I was a customer and a reviewer. I was not overjoyed on both fronts. Like you said, “avoid these guys for the time being until they get their shit together” sums it up quite nicely.

Myseedbox.info is not worth the money, beware!!
I purchased two different packages, both get max 300kb/s upload and since this morning torrentflux is not reachable (however torrents are still active though).
Their server seem to be down every 2 or 3 days, so I do NOT recommend myseedbox.info AT ALL!
030 • Username Says: 08.06.08 at 3:53 pm
Is seedboxhosting.com legit? Many people are saying that their offers seem fishy/not legit.
031 • joey Says: 08.06.08 at 7:05 pm
I signed up with seedboxhosting.com a few days ago….$37 for 50 gig hard drive unlimited speed and bandwidth and unlimited torrents….the service is good…email response time is prompt. I believe however that Sharky when testing them only tested them using 1 maybe 2 torrents. If you want to run 1 torrent at a time or 2 then they are awesome….if you want to run 5 or 10 forget about it on their small package…server overload folks….you will probably need to upgrade to the $67 package.
The major problem with them is you only get 150 megabytes of RAM….so what this effectively means is you cannot have unlimited torrents that have activity on them. When I run 2 very active torrents my server load is above .6 and you don’t want it going over 1. What I’m finding out is that you really can’t run more than 2 or 3 really active torrents with them because of the RAM constraints…So on one hand they say everything is unlimited and in fact it is except the memory…with the limit in memory you have a limit on torrents you can run without your server becoming garbage.
And with the limited torrents you’re really not gonna max out your speeds unless you get on a really fast torrent…fastest upload speed I have seen is no more than 1500 Kb/s. So far I have been fairly satisfied with the speeds….speeds aren’t their problem….they really need to offer more memory with their packages. I’m on a new server that they got so maybe they will work things out but I want to be able to run 5 torrents without my server going above 1.0…right now I can only run 2 maybe 3…it’s disappointing and unless they change this I will be trying out some of the other providers reviewed here and if they offer a similar price with similar features but with more memory then I will switch for sure.
032 • joey Says: 08.06.08 at 7:14 pm
To add to above regarding seedboxhosting.com….right now I am running 2 torrents and server load is .91….they say you don’t want your server above 1.0…and in fact I have noticed that when you do start exceeding this mark then the page reloads get more sluggish and your speeds tend to decrease….so tell me folks if I am at .91 with 2 torrents running what do you think is gonna happen if I want to run 5 torrents? The server load will go well above 1.0 and I will be getting fairly shitty service. Why? Because there is not enough RAM with their packages or it’s something else but whatever it is they need to address it…anyways if this continues I will probably ask for my money back….they say they will return your money if you aren’t happy…so hopefully they will stick to this.
033 • sharky Says: 08.06.08 at 8:17 pm
JOEY: - I’m fairly experienced in TorrentFlux and servers, and there is no reason that keeping a “sweet-spot” of 1.0 for the server is mandatory. This is a fallacy - you can have a great UP/DOWN connection with a server that is, for example, at 8.2. You’ll never stay at under 1.0 unless you’re only seeding torrents. Adding just ONE new torrent (with a lot of leechers/seeders) to ANY TorrentFlux interface will jack up the serverload over 1.0 no matter how much RAM/memory/processor you’ve got - no one can argue with this. For example, if you have 10 seeding torrents (i.e. - not downloading at all) and you’re uploading 1,000KB/s on all of them at the same time - it is very possible - in fact commonplace - to keep the server under 1.0. But this will change as soon as you add a NEW torrent - and especially so if you add more than one “leeching” torrent - this will hurt the whole system until it stabilizes and your torrent(s) become seeders. While RAM does have something to do with it, understand that when renting a TF host from most providers, the RAM is a shared resource among ALL users on the server.
Do not rely on the “Page Refresh” in TorrentFlux to provide you with accurate data. It is not in ‘real time’ - even if you have it set to refresh in 6 seconds or 60. When it refreshes, it doesn’t show you what’s happened during the last 60 second - it just shows you what’s happened during the last time it refreshed itself. Look at the overall transfer rates over an extended period of time to judge what it’s doing.
In defense of seedboxhosting - I recommend you try any other TF hosting from this list and see if you’re equally as disappointed - sounds to me like this is your first seedbox. I’ve tested almost ALL of them here - this is not a problem specific to seedboxhosting.com. It’s an issue with TorrentFlux itself - it’s a poor conduit to bandwidth, and is a real hog to the overall performance - but great if managed well. Linux is the real solution (libtorrent + rtorrent, with debian) because there’s no overhead of a GUI interface although you’ll have to pay for your own server or VPS. OHV may be able to help you there.
Here’s a look at my seedboxhosting.com TF seedbox (on my $37 account) with 12 seeding torrents - the serverload is under 1.0 -

From reading over the FAQ for seedboxhosting.com, it seems that it’s possible to run 5 torrents at once. It’s just that the settings have to be tuned to a specific way. Gonna try out one of their boxes right now.

Excellent information from both Joey and Shark. A couple weeks ago based on this review I signed up with wewillhostit. I had a very negative experience and cancelled after a couple of days.
Saturday morning I signed up for a $37 seedbox with seedboxhosting.com. My seedbox was ready in about four hours. I consider this phenomenal considering I ordered it at 7:15AM CST and it was ready by 11:19CST. I did have a couple issues with the one they originally provisioned and was provided a new one. Support was excellent. They were very friendly and always willing to help. I never got the feeling I was bugging them even though I was being a high maintenance customer.
I experienced a lot of what Joey stated. Here is the output from my seedbox:
Download Speed: 49.90 (0.00) kB/s
Upload Speed: 54.00 (0.00) kB/s
Total Speed: 103.90 (0.00) kB/s
Connections: 16 (0)
Drive Space: 20.55 GB
Server Load: 3.63
I was leeching 3 torrents and seeding 1. Coming from an rtorrent setup I was disappointed. But this is something that is wrong with torrentflux not seedboxhosting. torrentflux is a over-bloated piece of software in my opinion that eats up waaaay more resources then is required.
This afternoon I have signed up with sciclone hosting one of their dedicated server plans. Andrew has been more then helpful regarding my requests and working with me on getting things setup. I am currently waiting on my server to be provisioned and it should be ready within 24 hours.
So to recap wewillhost it was a terrible experience due to them overselling.
seedboxhosting was a middle of the road experience. Mainly due to limitations with the torrentflux software package. I am sure if they allowed the use of rtorrent on their seedboxes things would be so much smoother.
sciclone hosting time will tell when I get my box. But very few things in my opinion are better then a rtorrent+sshfs+rsync configuration.

The box from seedboxhosting.com ($37 one) really isn’t that bad.
Download Speed:
132.20 kB/s
Upload Speed:
11.90 kB/s
Total Speed:
144.10 kB/s
Connections:
18
Drive Space:
50.20 GB
Server Load:
0.09
The server load really just depends on the amount of connections you allow, and the speed the transfers are going.
037 • joey Says: 09.06.08 at 12:27 am
Sharky….hmmm…I’m curious…so are you saying that if I let the server load go above 1.0 it doesn’t necessarily mean I will get slower speeds or more sluggishness from the server? Will it still perform well? Maybe it was coincidence but I seemed to notice drops in speeds when I had server load of 1.5 let’s say…and when I turned off all torrents except 1 then the server load dropped and speeds on the lone running torrent seemed to improve….so how should I judge whether I’m overloading the server? Go by server load? Connections? How quickly the Torrentflux page reloads? Something else?
I would also like to know what you recommend using to get files onto your computer from Seedboxhosting? FTP or through HTTP and a file downloader? And when you download something do you keep the seeding on or is it better for the server and connection when you turn that torrent off? I’ve been doing some testing with this and it seems that when I download from the server it slows my torrents down.

I’ve been keeping a keen eye on this article and based on it, I decided to try Seedboxhosting. Don’t let my nickname fool you; I’m in no way related to that company, nor family of any of the employees, I was just lucky to get in touch with them and try out both packages for a period of 5 days. So, here are my opinions on those tests.
The smaller package looks to pose some issues especially when running more than 5 torrents at a time. Also, it is quite slow when you’re running a few torrents and use the interface to delete files, make a torrent or whatever. Still, when looking at the built-in server-statistics, it doesn’t seem to overload since only a few MB got swapped. The rest (being kernel or other) was cached properly. Even with high traffic, I was unable to get a load > 0.9 on the small package.
After this, I switched to the bigger server (300MB) and that responded even faster. Still, every bit of RAM was used for caching but the thing as a whole was much quicker to respond but not as quick as you might imagine. I got in touch with the support-team and they upgraded me to two CPU’s and that seemed to help linearly. I mean to say: after the 2nd CPU, all my times doing operations were slashed in half. Creating torrents (from 1.4GB files) went down from 9 to 4 minutes, the AJAX-refresh even did its job when set a 5 seconds. At some point I had about 15 torrents online (seeding and downloading), combined speed over well over 2200KB/s and load was only 0.57.
Still, there seemed to be something wrong and after some extensive mailing with the company, I’m currently waiting for my next test-server that will probably the 300MB-version but based on different (physical) hardware; hopefully I can give more results on this later this week.
General issues on both packages:
Seems only one concurrent http-connection is possible; in Firefox I had my main interface in one tab, my incoming-dir in another and as soon as I wanted to create a torrent in tab 2, tab 1 couldn’t refresh (this goes for both packages). Also, http-download is very sluggish (getting about 200kb/s) but ftp worked fine for me. My SmartFTP-client was able to get 5 concurrent connections each running at 200kb/s and still the server managed to seed (upload to trackers) at well over 800kb/s. As opposed to JOET, I didn’t feel that anything slowed down and that I got “2 seperate lines”, one for torrents and one for other protocols.
As a whole, Seedboxhosting does a very good job on the support (even in weekends) and is very willing to listen to good input (with enough solid arguments) to test something or to hand out things to their testers for review.
Final note: in the end I did however cap my rates at 950KB/s on the 300MB-machine. Somewhere on the Torrentflux-forums I found something about overhead vs. speeds and it’s advisable (as well on the reguler uTorrent-client) not to overload the TCP-stack and only offer it 90-95% of its capacity! This worked out to even more fluent reactions of the server and better sustained speeds, even when seeding a lot and with connections > 50.
039 • Username Says: 09.06.08 at 5:44 pm
I had left the server on overnight; the server load jumped from .5 (running two torrents) to 1.35 (when I turned it on this morning). It does indeed get sluggish, but it’s not that bad, considering that fact that I capped the upload speeds to about 1 MB/s for each torrent. I’ve also noticed that using mainline or tornado is easier on the server load, considering that the amount of connections could be limited.
040 • Norman Says: 11.06.08 at 10:16 am
I signed up for a big ($67) seedboxhosting seedbox some days ago, and got it active overnight. Fast service! After running six active (leeching/seeding) torrents with load under 0.3 and very good speeds for a day, I uploaded a 1.37 Gb file to the server via sftp (good speed also) but the process to create a torrent file for it took 22 (twenty two!) minutes and 53 seconds, the load skyrocketed over 3.00 and the main webui window stopped refreshing and stopped to respond at all as long as the creating torrent popup windows remained open. The seeds kept going well underneath, though, and I believe the unresponsiveness is due to the only one concurrent http connection previously commented here. Now Im running it with 12 active torrents (2 leeching, 10 seeding), with load around 1.10. The only reason Im not a not fully satisfied Seedboxhosting customer is the torrent creation time. I ordered the $67 box after reading in their FAQ about the big box being the best option for those who wanted to create torrents, but 22 minutes if way under my satisfaction level. I just wonder how much time takes to create a torrent on the $37 box, a day or two? And I found a workaround for the only one concurrent http connection: Use your seedbox IP instead of your full hostname as URL, and you will be able to open one more http connection.

I have WeWillHostit.com and its not as bad as Needo. At first was laggy until got another server and had some people switch from torrentflux to rTorrent. Server was upgraded to a dual core cpu. Yes torrentflux is a hog. The speeds are very good for my likes.
down to 3000 Kb/s down
upload was max at 300 but now is 500 Kb/s
My only dislikes is a private site i seed on cant be recognized unless i can sign into them from the server which WWHi doesnt have a proxy page to do this.
I used for a month and thats the only real downfall.
I am thinking of going to FTN as he quated me a heck of a deal for thier package 4 and i would have a proxy page, and make sub accounts for my bros.
Great to read the responses and i will let u know how some of these others are like.

We Will Host It.com is a poor service….for 2 weeks they had all sorts of server problems…you basically couldn’t use it at all…I asked for my money back and they didn’t even bother responding….asked again and they finally had the decency to respond and of course they said no. Don’t give your money to these guys…they are cheap but there’s a reason for it…they are no good.
They made all this big deal about a new server and the max upload you can get on it is 500kb/sec….that’s pretty slow for a seedbox…maybe if they didn’t over sell accounts they could offer more. If you want to download through HTTP they don’t even resume downloads…you gotta start all over again if there is a problem. They aren’t using the new Torrentflux version but the old one…it has limited features and is just plain ugly. You can get much faster speeds on other seedboxes than these guys.
I give these guys 2 thumbs down…I canceled and moved onto a better servcie.

For Don Joey: What do you mean you had 2 accounts with us??? I don’t ever think that you even tried our servers. We have have nothing but great praise from our customers and our speeds are consistantly running over 4000kb/s. If you (or anyone for that matter) doubt us, please reply for a test account.
Thank you.

Thanks Myseedbox.info for letting me be testing your shared seedboxes

Is there any chance to sign up for a test account, just to check out the speeds before i purchase ?

I am here on behalf of ScicloneHost. For $60 a month, you can get a full dedicated server from my service and have a Celeron D 3.06GHz, 80GB of HD, 1GB of RAM, 100mpbs @ 2TB of bandwidth. This server config = best seedbox experience for a cheap price.
054 • Andrew Says: 22.06.08 at 12:03 am
I forgot to mention that you can get speeds over 9,000kpbs, as Sharky tested my service before.
055 • joey Says: 22.06.08 at 3:14 am
How much for unlimited? I just did 150 gigs in about a day with leechthis. So I don’t see 2TB’s lasting me that long. If you can get me an unlimited package of some sorts for about $60 but you reduce other factors like maybe Harddrive then I would consider it. I can contact you on your site I guess…let me know please.
056 • Andrew Says: 22.06.08 at 12:14 pm
I don’t want to use this place to sell my stuff, but one last thing,
Joey - I can do 10MPBS speed @ unmetered bandwidth for an extra $10 a month. You can’t enjoy the full 100mpbs @ unmetered unless you pay a hefty $50 a month extra.

I am a fairly new seedbox freak. Spent a quick 100 euros amongst almost all the services before settling down to the best.
The Best service + Value in the world :
Definitely http://mybox.pfcorner.eu/ Awesome service, GREAT SPEED, Super Consistency - and be assured im not a part of their sales team. Its simply the golden nugget in the list above.
The WORST:
Wewillhostit.com
Fuc**** Scammers!!
058 • eBoy36 Says: 22.06.08 at 4:30 pm
FTN European server 1 is running again (i guess it was maintenance) but my seedbox still no shown :,(
059 • joey Says: 22.06.08 at 6:04 pm
I will second that WeWillHostit are scammers…after 2 weeks of virtually no service and all sorts of server problems and overselling accounts and me doing a whopping 3.5 gigs in that time they wouldn’t refund me my $12. For making $12 they have just earned themselves someone who won’t ever sign up for their service again and will also give them negative reviews on every seedbox forum and every torrent site I’m on..and that is quite a few…good business decision…but what do you expect from these guys.
060 • Leecher08 Says: 22.06.08 at 11:22 pm
I have heard nothing but bad things about http://mybox.pfcorner.eu/ I would go with leechthis.org They have great prices and unbelievable speeds. Also if there does happen to be a problem with something they are fast to resolve the problem.

062 • Mystery shopper Says: 23.06.08 at 5:39 pm
Right, I’ve been spending around $100 on several hosts over the last week and here are my conclusions so far:
MySeedBox.info: awesome speeds; did about 90GB upload last Sunday alone on a wellknown MMA-event. Download not too shabby; around 2.5MB/s. FTP isn’t that great; around 900KB/s single thread. Support is excellent; online admins on servers and quick response to email. Only downside: could/should offer 1 or 2 more active torrents/package.
Torrent-core: what? who? Paid for their service, got an invoice and that’s about the last I heard from them. 2 days DNS-problems even reaching their homepage. And now some message that the new servers take longer to deliver. Well, to be continued…
BR-hosting: pretty good value; think of a custom package and ask for a quote. Download very nice at around 2MB/s. Upload really poor and disconnects to tracker. FTP awesome headed towards 2MB/s (my max home-connection). Support not too good; takes a while to get hold of them. Are installing new servers Linux-shared, Windows-shared and starting uTorrent as well.
MyBox.PFCorner: never even responded to my email. Even sent from different account (98% whitelisted) and no reply. In my opinion: never mind them again.
Ow, and a few inside tips on othe
