by the way great tut .. i forgot to mention … i created my own some time ago and found this tut surfin the web …. great starter tut

one thing i would add = block list manager or adding thoes ip filters to ur host file ….. ( protecting ur self from anti priacy companies sniffing ur traffic )

i like to addum to my host file to break any type of communications WAT SO EVER …

The point is not to have super speed download that u get with a seedbox OBVIOUSLY , which wouldn’t matter anyway …

if a torrent is seeded long enough it will make back wat u downloaded in gb’s regardless of speed ….

THE POINT IS NOT TO UPLOAD WHAT U DOWNLOADED 12 TIMES FASTER…..

THE POINT WAT TO CONSTANTLY UPLOAD … PERIOD…. BECAUSE EVEN IF U UPLAOD 12kb/s IF U DO IT FOR 4 MONTHS U HAVE SEEDED A FAIR AMOUNT OF DATA…. BRINGING UR RATIO BACK UP ….

doing nothing ….. sharing / helping the torrent community .. FOR FREE

vs the obvious pay some preset price to have this ability 12 times faster ….

its like having a Maserati & a Pinto (as one user mentioned ) IF THE POINT IS TO GET THERE …. rather u got there n 10 minutes going 200mph in ur Maserati , or n 2 hours in ur pinto ….. YOU GOT THERE … and u dont have to pay the $300 dollar ticket u would have accumulated in ur Maserati

This is pointless and I’ll explain. Let’s say you have two cars. One is a Pinto and the other is a Maserati. Having the Maserati doesn’t make your Pinto any faster. So how would having two pc’s on the same local area network coming from the same internet service provider benefit anyone in any way apart from just system resources on the one machine. Yes, your taking the load off your primary pc but your tubes are still running the same Internet at the same speed as it was before you went through all this. Seedbox’s give people breakneck speeds (for a $fee) because they are remote servers. Those remote servers are on much faster (most likely fiber-optic) connections. Comparing a Seedbox’s ISP to your own ISP is like my comparison of the cars. The Seedbox charges you a premium fee because they are driving the Maserati at or around 100 megabits a second (About 1gig per second download speeds) Your crappy Internet service provider is driving the Pinto (at 10 megabits a sec. if your lucky) Making your home ISP ten times slower than the Seedbox on the premium connection, It has nothing to do with payload of one machine, and everything to do with connection speed of your ISP.

i tried to do this guide on my pc but speeds very crapy, then i tried to buy seedbox from http://www.seedhost.net , now getting 12mb/s up and down , without any headaches , great service , great support , very recommended for guys like me with small connections at home , allso they setup the whole utorrent thing for you in like 2 hours after payment.

ok, but what is theh point of having a seedbox if you have a crappy dsl 3 Mbps connection like me? This box will do NOTHING to speed up my UL’s or DL’s….

SO with out the AWESOME connection a seedbox is MOOT for most torrent users … UGH

I hate to say that cause I fall into that category

Surely the point of a seedbox is……
it has a faster connection to the net than a home connection.
it is alway on.
free’s up home connection from the bandwidth burden of uploading.

There really is no point setting up your own seedbox at home…
If you really want to use an old pc for torrenting just connect the old and new pc via lan and controll the old pc from your new one..

Or if you want to access your oid pc from any pc on the net just use windows remote access.

this is very interesting as i have been thinking about getting a seedbox for a while & this looks straightforward enough. if i do this will i still have to pay server costs to host my seedbox?i dont mind paying for the service just cant seem to gather a lot of information on the subject

Why not use the default windows remote desktop software? Works like a charm and you don’t need to install anything.
