For anyone who’s a BitTorrent fan and a games enthusiast, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try to get into Blackcats-Games. Whether it’s PC, XBOX, Wii or PlayStation games you crave - you’ll find it all in this tracker. We felt this was a good time to do a review on Blackcats, since they’ve recently been opening up the door for new members. Filesharefreak managed to slip in and snag an account - so for all non-members and aspiring Blackcats, let this review be all the inspiration you need!
Blackcats has long been known as the premiere games tracker, but what makes it so popular? Two things come to mind: Lots of torrents and fresh content. In the month of May, 745 new torrents were added to the tracker, for an average of 24 torrents per day - bringing the grand total to 7,000 torrents. So where do all these fresh torrents come from? Blackcats has 119 trusted uploaders that continuously feed a steady stream of new material to the tracker.
Registration at Blackcats - A Recipe for Futility?
Blackcats has always been a bit of a quarky site to register at. During the five months between November ‘07 and March ‘08 they hardly let anyone new into the tracker. Yet, April and May have seen a steady influx of new members, and in June they’ve already added an additional 836.
As of June 4th, Blackcats has moved over to new hosting which may solve some of the registration woes. Looking to get in? We can only recommend you keep trying - use the traditional approach by knocking on their front door, and click the ‘Register’ link - they’ve been open sporadically during the this past week. However, here is a popular post that outlines how to get in to Blackcats using a few Firefox add-ons; we should note that it’s been met with mixed reviews.

The BCG forums are another huge reason why this tracker is a cut above the rest. They’re a busy place, indeed - and there’s also a Tutorials thread for each category of game. Here’s just a sample of the XBOX 360 tutorials:

Here’s the stats for the tracker, as of June 6, ‘08. There is currently a 100,000 users max. limit, but accounts get pruned ‘often’ which makes room for new registrations/invites.
‘Seed Points’ System:
Aside from the regular UP/DOWN ratios, users can also benefit from the BCG "Seed Points" system, whereby upload credit can be bestowed onto the account holder:
Q: What is the purpose of the Seed Points mod?
While leaving torrents running after completion until they have reached a ratio of at least 1.0 by uploading to others is the preferable means of seeding, at times it becomes difficult to do so. In particular, there are times when after completing a download, members will be left with no downloaders to seed to, or, on newer, popular torrents, there may be so many seeds compared to the number of downloaders that they are unable to connect with them to seed properly. This is where Seed Points will help them.
The system is designed to assist the members by raising their ratios and awarding them upload credit on those difficult torrents, following a set of strict criteria.
Blackcats ‘Scene Releases’
Most serious torrenters are already aware that the best stuff comes from release groups in the form of proper "scene releases". Well, unsurprisingly, Blackcats knows it, too - and has a ‘Scene Releases’ feature that feeds from NFOHump.com’s (formerly ‘NFOrce.nl) listings of recently released games.
Here, users can check out what would be classified as ‘official’, and then conduct a search for it on BCG - more often than not, it’ll turn up at Blackcats.
We were thrilled to see this feature - games are broken down into each category / console:

It’s a good thing they have the seed points system too otherwise it’d be really hard to keep a good ratio unless you download games that you can’t even play or want in an attempt to be able to seed. There really isn’t a good excuse to not take advantage of the seed points system if you have trouble maintaining a good ratio, since all you need to do is leave it seeding and if you are using the seed points system there’s a good probability that it’s because no one is leeching, meaning you could leave it seeding while doing other torrents in the meantime.

Matt, you should of read announces… If you don’t read whats being announced EPSESUALLY THE BIG READ ONES ON THE MAINPAGE to see whats going on then its good you have been banned from the website.
The site is still there, you just can’t access it

hello, joining this website for me isn’t about just leeching off people and getting free games, its more than that. The dedicated uploaders probably spend time 24/7 looking for the greatest games to upload that they can find. and the truth is, i want to learn. probably me and the rest of the dedicated PC populous too. I want to be an asset to black cat, not just upload my quota, and then download maybe 1 or 2 games a month. I want to join the uploaders, and learn a great deal from these dedicated people, instead of taking advantage of their very hard to find downloads. And by god if i have to keep going on their site to see when i can register i will….

how the hell do you get past the strange fake front end LATIN screen. I have translated some of the text and the plot thickens, they really want to keep peeps out of there me thinks. Can anyone shed any more light on this subject because its starting to turn into a who done it murder mystery drama for me! lol. I tried translating the whole url http://www.blackcats-games.net and it really didn’t like that. I got some weird coded message, that only those on the inside will understand. Also the search box on the front end page does let you type shit into it but you can hardly see what’s been typed. Anybody would think that this was some sort of test to see if you are smart enough to get to the sign up/login screen. Maybe they directly recruit MI6 and secret service from black cats…. lol come on I want to hear from someone with some brain power with regard to the points I have raised. maybe the code is in the latin text somewhere to get past that front end screen.

You have to type something special into the search box to get to the login page — ie. only members will know what you need to type. I’m pretty sure blackcats isn’t going to be open for a while.

I use Blackcats and have done so for quite some time, it has some of the fastest torrents on any site I’ve ever used, it also gets quite a few torrents you wont find on other sites, unfortunately it’s not a case of asking for an invite, as they can’t be sent out unless the site is looking for new members, as it wont generate new codes, but for some reason the site is gone today, hopefully it’s just a glitch and will be back up asap, even all my seeding torrents have stopped!
