Scan Your Files Online at NoVirusThanks & VirusTotal

If you do a lot of downloading from BitTorrent & P2P then you probably already have a good anti-virus program installed, we should hope. But with all the choices for anti-virus these days, is there truly a ‘best’ solution? It’s impossible to side with just one, especially with all those "false positives" that one program will report, while the other claims the file is clean. This is commonly the case for users of McAfee and Nod32 - so which one should you trust? You could feasibly install a third, or even fourth antivirus program, but this just isn’t practical.

So why not get yourself a second opinion - or how about 36 of them. That’s where an online virus/malware multi-scan comes in handy. Great for scanning those cracks & keygens you downloaded before you unzip/unrar them. Note: There’s a 20 MB size limit per file for both of these services.

NoVirusThanks.org

With NoVirusThanks you’ll be able to scan your files using all of their 21 antivirus engines at the same time, and have the reports shown in one page. Personally, I check downloaded files with ClamWin and I also take a look at Bitzi to see what others are telling for the file. My way of giving back is to send my own reports to Bitzi, to be useful in some way to others. All this stuff is open source/open content.

these tools doesn’t help at all, i can make my trojans undetected by antivirus programs by simply adding methamorphism when compilin the exe :)

no need of methamorphism rofl, just a packer can make undetected an exe, but it wont stay undetected for more than 1 day if you spread :) so this sites are sure usefull. I noticed also in http://novirusthanks.org there is a binder detector and other good information that sure help you also if file is undetected if you know what you need to know..
You can also use sandbox (Sandboxie) after used this site.
By the way great post didnt know the first one

All I have to say is one word… LINUX! You won’t be having a problem with those pesky viruses any more if you just would give it a spin ;)

I haven’t used antivirus software in 2 years. Firefox with adblock and no script and common sense are all you need.

    TONI’s right, LINUX! :D

If you’re a Windows user, the best anti-virus is F-Secure, and it donesn’t give you false positives!

    And, ANDREW,

Even if you don’t do anything with your’e computer or the computer doesn’t do anything, there still comes viruses by just being connected to the internet. E.g. there’s viruses that connect to random IP’s on the net.

That’s what NAT firewalls are for. I don’t run a software firewall either. The last Windows install I had was around a year old and I didn’t have any AV software, right before I did a fresh install of Windows I ran a virus scan just for the hell of it. No viruses.

I usually scan the programs i download with Norman Security Suite. It comes out well in most AV-reviews.

    Andrew:
Using windows without a good antivirus installed is a bad idea. sooner or later a you’ll get infected with a virus. After having your computer fucked up with a badass virus, I’m pretty sure you’ll install som antivirus-software :)

Naaaa I’ll just reinstall windows. I’d rather do that once a year than have antivirus software.
