PassThePopcorn.org - The Innovative Movie Tracker

The Gazelle codebase works exquisitely for music trackers (What.cd & Libble) because of the advantageous categorical grouping and tagging characteristics. PassThePopcorn.org has proven that Gazelle functions equally as well when the same principles are applied to a movie tracker. Films, too, are easily grouped and require multiple tagging criteria (genre, year, language, codec) in which Gazelle once again earns merit as the superior tracker codebase.

PassThePopcorn has been around for about a month now, but is only really beginning to hit its stride as of late. With over 5,000 members and 4,800 torrents, expect great things to come. The max user limit is set to 6,000 and slots are filling up fast - new members can sign up here.

No *.RAR Files

Worth mentioning is that all movies are already extracted and ready for playback (no RAR or ZIP files are allowed). TIP: If you own a TorrentFlux seedbox and have VLC Media Player set up, you’ll be able to watch the film from your seedbox without having to transfer it back to your hard drive first. UnRAR’d files make for easy cross-seeding/pre-seeding from other trackers - you won’t need to keep all those RAR files around cluttering up your computer - just seed the *.avi file.

Advanced Searching:

PassThePopcorn is not just another movie tracker. They’ve been working hard to incorporate automation of parsed movie data from IMDB.com into the torrents. While it’s not a finished product, there’s already some spectacular features, such as movie cover art and an actor/character listing for each film. They’ve then taken a step forward by implementing "advanced search" fields for actor / character / director, among other criteria. All of which is totally unheard of in any other movie tracker! SM is definitely turning into one the most complex and innovative movie trackers around.

Additional Features:

• Coming soon, users will be able to simply add the imdb link to a movie, and all film data will be automatically added to a new upload. This is revolutionary to movie trackers, and not seen anywhere else. It’ll help to keep torrent ‘details’ consistent and uniformed, while also providing a hoard of data.

• All users can make requests for torrents, as well as upload. Advanced searching and Top 10 lists are also open to all.

• As with all Gazelle trackers, torrents can be downloaded as *.txt files in the event that you’re blocked from downloading actual *.torrent files. Simply edit your profile, and checkmark this option:

• To become a Power User, members will need to upload at least one torrent. This ensures a constant stream of new material to the tracker.

• More info can be found on their IRC channel at irc://irc.what.cd/passthepopcorn. Additionally, there’s also an in-browser (java) IRC chat on the site.

TC will blow this out of the water once the transition is complete. They’ve already closed down the sign ups ;)

It’ll be fun to watch the competition, anyway.

Hey Guys, Just wanted to take this time to say Hello ::waves:: We are not looking to competed, just be a close knit community of movie freaks who likes to download and/or purchase films. We are very excited about the publicity and welcome any new members to the community.

    Our IRC is irc.scenemovies.org #scenemovies

    We do not use #sminvites

    Thanks!

Another torrent site which thinks it will succeed. Look at TC, turns out to be nothing special.

This is the 2nd site that Iv noticed (after tehconnection) that has no rar for movies, its actually pretty convenient rather having to extract all files after downloading, the interface is pretty slick too !

this is a nice site, but TC could be the one to watch once the transition to gazelle is complete in a couple of weeks, as it has nearly 3000 torrents, against SceneMovies’ 333.

it must be said however that scenemovies has only just started up, by the time TC has got gazelle it may have caught up in torrent numbers and maybe even member numbers, and during this time TC has no forums and the only community is through IRC, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

personally, i’m feeling SceneMovies much more than TC, it feels like it has more potential.

Is that a joke? Loads of trackers have had that for ages.

PtP is the messiest tracker i’ve ever seen. There’s no way to check the quality of most torrents, and most of them are very poor.

  14. 014   •   HAHAHA Says:

PTP is the worst coded site! Their staff sucks too!

If you want a real site that’s coded to survive check out http://www.tehconnection.eu Their staff are top knotch. ptp will be waffles.fm in the end. TC is the future what,cd of movies no doubt!
