The Wait Is Over - TehConnection v2 Gazelle Is Here
January 19, 09 by sharky 10,990 viewsGood things come to those who wait. TehConnection’s coders & staffers certainly took their sweet time getting everything just right, and now TC has been officially reborn using a highly-customized (and sophisticated) version of What.cd’s Gazelle codebase. Aesthetically pleasing as it is user-friendly, forget what you used to know about the old TC - version 2.0 will rock your movie world!

What.cd’s frontman spoke out, "Personally, my hopes are placed on TehConnection. The people running that site really do know what they’re doing, which is an increasingly rare thing to see in the private tracker world. And from what the little birdies tell me, the gazelle switch is imminent. When it comes to raw coding power, the TC staff blow most other tracker staff I’ve come in contact with out of tha water. Hate to say it." — WM
Finding an Invite to TehConnection.eu
Presently, TC is not directly open to new members (they’re still working out a few remaining bugs), but may open up in a week for public signups. To celebrate the re-launch, there’s a brand-new recruitment thread in the Invites section of What.cd’s forums here. Just shoot a PM to the thread starter with an email address, you should be invited in under 24 hours. Additionally, all current TC users received 5 shiny-new invites as a welcome-to-v2 gift.
You can also request an invite in TC’s IRC channel:
irc://irc.P2P-NET.eu/TehConnection.Invites
New Features:
Months of painstaking customized coding has paid off in dividends for TehConnection, as there are plenty of unique features unseen anywhere else.
"Peoples"
The "Peoples" feature is something we’ve concocted here at TehConnection to help you get connected to the movies here on the site. We’re all movie fans and one thing we can all recognize is wanting to discover new and awesome movies. We’ve all got favorite actors, directors and writers. Whether you’re a Whedon-ite and want to see everything Joss Whedon’s ever worked on, or if you’re a fan of thrillers and want to see all the Hitchcock films, you’ll enjoy the Peoples section. Accept no substitutes and flimsy imitations, Peoples is taking the tracker and turning it into something new and exciting. And it’s only here at TehConnection. Now get to searching!
At the top of the TC menu, click on the Peoples link. Enter in a director, producer, writer or actor name. For example, type "Dicaprio". The resultant actor is Leonardo DiCaprio. Click on the name, and the list of movies he appears in will appear in ‘collage’ style. Here’s the fun part - click on a mini-movie poster and a dashboard opens up, where there’s movie art, YouTube movie trailer and even a torrent link for the film (best viewed at 1280×1024 display). This also works particularly well for actors who are also directors, as in the case for Clint Eastwood, whereby multiple Peoples categories are displayed on the same page.

"Movies"
As expected from TC, individual movie pages are concise and well organized. There’s a YouTube trailer for each movie, poster art, movie description/summary, IMDB.com link, torrent file list, peer list & individual comments. Even cooler, there’s a "Peoples In This Film" link, which presents even more actors, directors and writers with direct links to their own "Peoples" pages. Everything is connected at TehConnection.

Did we forget to mention that there are torrents, too? Ala style of Gazelle, torrents are grouped together in each film name. Whether it be x264 720p or 1080p, DVDR, XviD, Blu-Ray or Scene releases, they’ll all be listed. There’s even a dashboard link on the main browse page (aka movies) for each film.
Our Synopsys: The all-new TehConnection will assuredly be a smash hit. TC’s forums are working again (and very active), all user classes are permitted to upload torrents, and there’s been over 80 new torrents uploaded in the past day or so. TC is simplistic, yet sophisticated, and a real beauty to behold.

I am speechless. TehConnection has really outdone themselves this time! There is not a doubt in my mind that TehConnection will become the “hot spot” for movie torrents. I had lost all hope, then i logged on this morning after hearing about it v2 launching, and i was completely blown away.
Congrats to TehConnection Coders & Staff!
This is surely to be a smash hit!

Oh man, i just got invited from What.cd forums.

I disagree with it being x264.eu with gazelle on top. x264.eu likes to stay smaller, TC is looking to grow and FAST. The trailers set it apart from any tracker out there…PERIOD. The coding of the site has to be the cleanest I’ve seen in awhile. I’m still kind of in awe in how well thought out it is.
Don’t get me wrong i love x264.eu and the quality they produce, but it looks like TC is striving to have thousands of movies with every encode possible in each movie group and have them continually seeded….

Love it. They are setting the standard.

012 • TOLDJOOSO Says: 19.01.09 at 8:58 pm
Haha. Now that TC is back in action, all you little kids that used to bad mouth it could stfu. It was funny seeing everyone flock to PTP, but PTP aint got shit on TC, it never did.
Props to everyone who stuck with TC even during its rough times.

YaY, Glad I saved my a/c. Even got free invites
014 • anon Says: 19.01.09 at 10:25 pm
to the person taht said “they want every format”
did you read the upload rules NO XVID unless its scene… this alone removes SOOOO many movies already floating around the net that they dont want uploaded. I mean x264 is great and all but seriously dont limit your options… PtP may not look pretty but it has more…
i would rather my site have more then to look pretty.
015 • Maria Says: 20.01.09 at 1:20 am
it seems ANON, that tehconnection is just tryna set an industry standard, to say no to xvid, to lower quality rips, and promote users to take it to the next level @ 264, as that other site x264.eu hasnt done a good job, i think for a larger scale site, it will make an impact on p2p as we know it.
016 • dojjah Says: 20.01.09 at 1:24 am
@ANON
ever here the saying, quality over quantity ?
017 • a/s/l Says: 20.01.09 at 3:52 am
it’s all well and good, but PtP has so many more films and although visually not as attractive, it’s a far better site.
018 • Diji1 Says: 20.01.09 at 4:01 am
To the people arguing over whether TC or PTP is best: who cares, get an account at both - they’re both superb sites that are making innovations that are pushing the boundaries of what a tracker can offer. Be happy, we’re all better off in the end yes?
For me the scene stipulation is a good one: I’ve just watched The Bourne Identity 2001 (right….?) from Alliance and I was really struck by how much Xvid has improved as the video quality was, well, not so good. Nothing wrong with Alliance, just the technology has improved a great deal. So the last thing I want is people’s rips from a time when people had little idea of what they were doing etc. It really makes sense to me seeing as so many films are being released in breathtaking Blu-Ray nowadays.
Just my opinion,
019 • neebs Says: 20.01.09 at 10:41 am
Yup, pretty cool.
020 • Any icons but those Says: 20.01.09 at 3:53 pm
Two points.
1. 264 will always take a back seat to XviD as long as XviD has compatability with standalone DVD players and 264 doesn’t.
2. Unfortunately, they’ve apparently kept the same drab icons even though members created some absolutely terrific new ones. (Which, BTW, a large portion of the community voted for.) Too bad, since the user created sets would look stunning in Gazelle.

We were contemplating something like the dashboard for a while and it looks like someone has been spying on us. We may just have to school some people with our own version.!
022 • meph Says: 20.01.09 at 9:08 pm
I’m going to hope for the sake of the future relations of our respective site’s that the previous poster was a perpetrator and not the actualy owner of Pass The Popcorn.
Regarding the Dashboard, that was a creation of mine, and mine alone, save for my friend Mary Jane who helped out quite a bit. I will not abide accusations of theft from the same site that recently roused the ire of one other SysOp for claiming credit for public code.
As far as the growing rivalry between the two sites, we, at TehConnection staff, have made it apparent, both in our IRC and in our forums, that we will not tolerate bashing or trash talk of PtP and we wish them the best. There is no rivalry as far as we’re concerned, just two sites with similar goals.

I’ve suscribed to both ot these trackers yesterday, and despite all the eye-candiness and great functionnality, twice i was disappointed.
They’re not meeting the number one priority to grow an international audience: subtitles ! at least in english !
I prefer to download the releases of popular teams like alliance or diamond, to be sure to be able to dl subs later on opensubtitles.org
Such a shame !!! i nearly felt in love..
024 • Sexedme Says: 22.01.09 at 12:16 am
Alex: If you have a suggestion for subtitles feel free to contribute in the forums
025 • Diji1 Says: 22.01.09 at 12:23 am
Alex: I hear you but really… how hard is it to type in [release.name], [language] and subtitles into google?
026 • alex Says: 22.01.09 at 4:18 am
It’s just that the movie rips are coming from the members, and consequently the available subs are not synchronized. (I suck at doing it by myself)
027 • DontAskQuestions Says: 31.01.09 at 9:48 pm
I’m glad to see some users aren’t getting wrapped up in the * vs * hype. We at Passthepopcorn.org wish TC the best luck, as they’ve wished us the same. Both sites exist for pretty much the same purpose, just do it differently. We also do not tolerate bashing of TC in our forums + IRC or any other forum of the such. To the staff at TC, Good luck, and much <3 from us!

Wait, isn’t the Peoples feature the same as PTP’s actor.php/artist.php just combined into one page? Far from new or unique.
029 • Sloppy Mo Says: 01.02.09 at 12:24 am
Looks are one thing, but ultimately it comes down to content:
TC
# Torrents: 1,914
# Films: 1,472
PtP
# Torrents: 6,139
# Movies: 5,232

lol why are people so retarded? they keep saying “oh its pretty but it doesnt have the selection of ptp”….. are you dense? do you not realize that this new interface will attract so many new users and encourage so much participation that in a very short amount of time, this tracker will own all other movie trackers combined? …u know, the same way What.cd owns all other music trackers, is now TWICE as big a Oink was, and is now the number one private tracker in the world? ….honestly, are you people dense?!? i didnt think it needed explaining that gazelle is just that badass.
