In this February 2009 edition, we present 35 new private trackers that are open for signups, plus we’ve found what’s quite possibly the worst torrent article ever published. Also in the news, What.cd surpasses 400,000 torrents; PassThePopcorn has successfully completed the greatest movie collection in history; TehConnection’s cool “LeechOff” contest; an older torrent forum gets a new makeover/domain; and a hilarious (but somewhat controversial) torrent video that will surely crack you up.
Woot! What.cd Hits 400,000 Torrents
By the time you’re reading this,
What.cd will have succeeded to pass the 400,000
torrent milestone, doubling the 200K
torrents that they had back on
July 10th, 2008. What’s even more impressive is that they had
[306,000](/2008/11/09/fsf-tracker-watch-2-nov-9/ “FSF Tracker Watch #2 -
Nov. 9”) torrents on November 9th - an increase of nearly 100,000 in
under three months to today’s count. If trends continue (and they
should, since membership is also on the rise), we predict What.cd to
achieve a half a million torrents in early May, 2009 - and perhaps round
out the end of the year with over 700,000 torrents. Yes, there really
is that much music. Way to grow, What.cd!
Also, if you haven’t noticed; What.cd has added a slew of new features, including forum icons and upped the number of forum threads from 25 to 50. Another change is for torrent inactivity deletion: You now get PM’d when your torrent is deleted for inactivity (torrents are automatically deleted after 2 weeks without a seed).
Waffles News: It looks like Waffles is set to have another 24-hour WTFleech in the middle of February, if their current food drive can achieve 93 more donated bags. For those unfamiliar, WTFleech means you will get half the download counted against you, and double your upload. To break this down even further, if you download a 100 MB torrent and upload 100 MB on it (ie 1:1), you’ll only be charged with 50 MB downloaded, and 200 MB will be added to your upload stats.
The Worst Torrent Article Ever Published?…
Call me crazy, but shouldn’t it be considered taboo for a major website to roll out a brand-new torrent article that is so blatantly erroneous, outdated and misguiding? Well, that’s exactly what Mashable has done with their latest bomb, entitled ”50+ New Tools for Torrenting” published on January 23rd, 2009. But don’t let the date fool you - it may as well have been published in 2005. And with 135 “Diggs”, it provides further proof that Diggers are mostly unsavvy illiterate automatons, who’ll Digg just about any dreck that gets published. You’ll agree that this is likely the worst article about torrenting ever done.
Getting back to the article - in the “Torrent Clients” section, there’s absolutely no mention of µTorrent, Azureus, Vuze, Transmission, Deluge, TorrentFlux-b4rt, rtorrent or uTorrent for Mac. How these clients were overlooked, we just don’t know. Oh, but they list LimeWire and Shareaza (since everyone uses those clients to torrent - fail!), although they originally linked to the fake/scam Shareaza website, until someone corrected them in the comments. Speaking of feedback, we particularly enjoyed reading this reader’s comment, left by “Torrent Man”:

‘Torrent Man‘ has a similar writing style to Sharky, dontcha think?! As it stands, the comment is still listed there, positioned at #26.
TehConnection.eu’s New “LeechOff” Contest
Aside from having recently opened their doors to public registrations, TehConnection.eu has kicked off the official unveiling of “Version 2.0” with their first contest, entitled ‘LeechOff’. “We have decided on our first contest and it may be something completely unique. We are having a Leech Off competition to get peer count up. The rules are as follows:”
- The contest starts Jan 31, 2009, and ends Feb 13, 2009, 00:00:00.
- Ratio still counts, anyone found Hit and Running during this competition will be disqualified.
- — Points are accrued as follow:
- 1) 1 point per torrent that you snatch (and seed) during the contest
- 2) 1 point per 2 snatches of a torrent you upload during the contest (for example, if you upload a torrent and 10 people snatch it, you get 5 points)
- — There are two ways to win:
- 1) Have the most points
- 2) Be seeding the most at the end of the contest.
- — Prizes (these are given twice, once for each contest):
- 1) First place: Teh Legend (VIP class) and the class perks: unlimited invites, a custom title, etc.
- 2) Second place: 5 extra invites and a custom title
- 3) Third place: custom title
- 4) Anyone who accrues 100 points at the end of the contest will be awarded 10GB of upload credit (this counts for the winners too) as a gift from our fabulous uploading team. Thank them now!
- As an added bonus, if we can maintain at least 30,000 peers (that’s only 4 torrents per person!) for the week after the contest, we’ll have a sitewide 24 hour freeleech and every 1000 peers above 30,000 is worth another hour of freeleech. 24 hours will be extended to the freeleech IF it happens AND there are 500 people in IRC.
Good luck, everyone! Looks like muctyea (with 212 points) may be running away with the first place prize.
PassThePopcorn Completes the ‘1001 Movies’ Collection
Gotta hand it to the tenacity of PassThePopcorn’s team and members.
PTP’s ”1001
1060 Movies You Must See Before You Die” is likely the largest and greatest collection of movies ever assembled on one tracker. Well, now it’s complete! Did we forget to mention that the entire collection is freeleech until Feb. 8th?
For fun, we took a look at the collection - more specifically, the sizes of the movies in it. Almost all of the torrents are *.avi (XviD) files, and about half of them are 1CD (700 MB), while the rest are 2CD (1.36 GB) releases. For a ballpark figure, there would thus be an estimated 1,590 individual 700MB *.avi files in the collection (530 ‘1CD’ files and 530 ‘2CD’ files: 1060 + 530 = 1,590). If you wanted to burn the entire collection onto DVD (’data burning’), for playback on a standalone DVD player, it would take approximately 265 blank DVDs to complete. That would make for one hell of a nice movie binder!
Invites-system.org - Domain Change
Invites-System.org, one of the oldest torrent forums on the ‘Net, has changed domains to http://tracker-invites.us.
Signups to Tracker-Invite.us are currently open. If you already have an account, you’ll be able to login with your old username/password.
Yawn… Tv.Torrents.ro is back online
Up down up down. If Tv.torrents.ro was the only television tracker around, most of us would be badly missing this site. It seems this tracker sustains more downtime than up - and when it goes down, it stays there for weeks at a time. Well, it’s online again - for now. And open for signups. Stay tuned for our next Filesharefreak Tracker Watch
when we report that TvT is offline again.
Video: Hitler Parody Torrent (ScT Edition)
You don’t need an account at ScT to find this YouTube video funny, but it helps. You’ll be sure to LOL. Be forewarned; some viewers may find this video distasteful, and it contains vulgar language (just like everything else on YouTube).
New Trackers to the BitTorrent Scene - Feb. ‘09
Featured Trackers:
• http://www.itune.ro (English/Romanian)
You won’t find this tracker listed anywhere else! iTune.ro is a brand-new music tracker that uses the Gazelle codebase (which is quite rare for a Romanian tracker, since they tend to stick with TBDev). Currently open for signups, iTune has begun to show impressive growth, with over 70 new torrents added in the past 24 hours. Signups are currently open, and you’ll want to get into this tracker as soon as possible (as there’s a limit of just 1000 users, and 817 slots are already taken).
• http://theoccult.bz (English)
From the same cool dudes who bring you ThePlace, TheBox and TheVault, comes a new tracker called ”The Occult”. TheOccult.bz focuses on magic, spirituality, freemasonry, philosophy. While still in “beta”, they’ve been adding a ton of new torrents lately (more than 50 new in the past week). Look for TheOccult to do some heavy site-promoting soon! Signups are currently open. Here’s a look at the available torrent categories (we Photoshopped it so it would fit):

• www.seekmybits.com (English)
We think you’re gonna like SeekMyBits. For a tracker that just launched in January 2009, there’s already an impressive 2,400 torrents and 4,670 registered members. SMB is a ‘general’ tracker for scene releases of all categories. TIP: Although we couldn’t find any freeleech torrents, only 75% of the download is counted towards the account. Signups are currently open.
• www.dreamzonept.com (Portuguese/English)
For a ‘general’ tracker that launched in January 2009, DreamZonePT has made remarkable progress in such a short time. There’s already a very impressive list of 900 torrents and 1,600 members. DL speeds are great, even on torrents with a low # of seeders. Signups are currently open.
• www.topbytes.net (English)
Another great tracker that started up in 2009 is TopBytes. The tracker design is very pleasing to the eye (think: SCC). With over 2,000 registered users sharing 900 total torrents, TopBytes is a ‘general’ scene-release tracker that boasts some fairly good pretimes, as well. Currently open for new signups.
• www.pmtorrents.com (English)
Portable Media Torrents is a new tracker that caters to all-things portable (but the primary focus is for iPod and iPhone torrents). There’s even a few appz
iPhone torrents (just 8, but most are iPhone packs). What’s really neat is that they have an extensive collection of current movies in *.mp4 container format, ready-to-go for the iPod/iPhone. Stats: 3,500 active members & 382 torrents. Signups are open.
• www.u-torrents.ro (English/Romanian)
u-Torrents is an decent new Romanian/English tracker that began in January 2009, and there’s already an impressive 878 active torrents and 7,268 members. One thing that separates u-Torrents from the rest of the group are the large packs that are offered (all of which are freeleech). To filter the torrents to show the ‘packs’, in the search field “Sorteaza dupa:” choose “Marime” from the dropdown list, and click “Cauta / Sorteaza”. This will filter the torrents by size, from largest to smallest. u-Torrents is currently open for new registrations.
• http://cinebay.org (Polish)
CiNeBaY is a newer Polish tracker with over 600 torrents. The main focus is on video torrents (both English and Polish) for movies, TV, DVD, Kids, and adult releases. Freeleech torrents (currently there’s 77) are marked with gold coins. Signups to CiNeBaY are currently open.

• http://badmintontorrents.com - We’ve seen it all - now there’s a tracker for Badminton events. What’s next …a ping-pong tracker? Sorry for the cheapshot, all you Lin Dan fanatics - but we don’t even have a decent NFL football tracker yet!
• http://mp3slo.com (Slovenia) - New music tracker with just 125 torrents.
• www.sc4-torrent.pl (Polish) - A newer Polish tracker serving up 5,774 torrents to 4,773 users. Sign up here.

reports 21,333 members and 2,159 torrents. Signups are presently
open.
• http://avchdbits.net (English) - A new BD5 “Blu-Ray rips” tracker with 432 members and 112 torrents. Signups are open.
• http://scarethe.net (Swedish) - A Swedish horror-movie tracker with 400 torrents (many of which are movie packs - all are freeleech). • http://www.bootytape.com - Relatively new tracker (October 2008). Torrents: 416 (active). Members: 9,472.
• http://hdtporno.org - It took us 3 tries to correctly sign up at this Russian tracker. You’ll see why. Anyways, there’s just 179 active torrents - but all of which are HD (Blu-Ray rips, HDTV, WMV 720/1080, etc.)
• http://the-porn-nation.com - Brand-new tracker with just 76 torrents.

Yet another great one from the torrent news king..
the great thing about you sharky, is your tendency to go into such details on everything you do, you actually look through the sites you put on your list and give it your own description, tons of work you put out and very impressive.
All hail filesharefreak, the king of bittorrent related news/articles.

@1
Yeah, I prefer file sharing forums compared to torrent sites. But these private torrent sites tend to have the more obscure movies/music you can’t find at warez-bb/other sites.
Thanks sharky, love your Tracker Watch series.

You must have a really small penis to have to come onto FSF everyday and act like you are something THAT YOU ARE NOT.
I’m sure you will reply with something equally mindless as your previous attempts at threats, but you might want to give your fingers a break cause no one here believes your bullshit about being some big shot in the bittorrent scene. You want to know why?
Because big shots in the bittorrent scene are not bottom feeders like you who go around posting grossly exaggerated comments just to perpetuate a Freudian fantasy that you are not a complete loser. Reality! You are a loser and this is just the internet, its not real!

Nice article.

A/S/L, ouch! All he did was tell us that they were open signups, which resulted in my new account there. He didn’t say anything bad, so chill will you?
@Lolwut, I WOULD agree completely, if it wasn’t for TC’s completely gayfuckretarted no user xvid rule, what kind of shit is that, seoriously

To Whom It May Concern,
I started off as member of demonoid, it sucked much, but it satisfied my movie/games/music need for the time being, I then found my way to Oink, then after the brutal shutdown of Oink.cd, i found my way onto What.cd, the first site i truly fell in love, it satified my every musical need, the staff are unlike any of I have met before, the professionalism, the features, the torrents, the security, its the site that contains everything you want and more. And of course when Gazelle Source launched, I was again, blown away, it felt revitalizing, it was i knew, something that the Bittorrent world have never seen or experienced before, a brand new source code, that destroyed TBSource and TBDev in everyway possible. Soon after getting a warning letting from my ISP (Comcast) about downloading from demonoid (yes i know i suck :[), I started looking in What.cd Forums for new private sites that offered the same security. There i found SceneMovies.org, i signed up it looked good, worked well, staff seemed friendly and so forth. I continued using the site on a regular basis. They soon changed the domain from SceneMovies to PassThePopcorn. PassThePopcorn did very well to be completely honest, they had some unique ideas, 1001 movies.. well thats about it, I guess. Either way alot of torrents were uploaded, they were seeded alright, everything was good. Up until some problems started arising on site. Well im not staff, never have been, never want to be anymore, but I am friends with many of the staffers on PtP, and listening to them, I am truly sorry your site is run by Pham, from what I’ve personally seen and heard about him by myself and his staff, he is definitely not fit to run a bittorrent site. He has no respect for the users, the staff or the site itself, he makes all the decisions on his own without respecting the opinions of the people who made PtP what it was. I mean I can understand ignoring opinions for small things like change the size of a text or something, but for major things, its totally wrong, do you really think good sites get better by doing things your own way, or listening to the staff and other users? Ill answer.. listening to the staff and users. So then i found myself thinking, if its run this way by Pham, i wonder what other things hes messed up. Being somewhat of a programmer myself, i started sniffing about the PtP Server, found SSH (Port 22) is completely open, it would only take a widely available SSH Bruteforcer and a large password list to crack it im sure, then all the information on 6,000+ PtP users is available to the world and legal figures, 6000+ torrents gone down the drain, several hundreds if not thousands of hours of work gone to waste, but whatever maybe its a super hard password. Then i go sniffing around apache and to my surprise, i find this http://passthepopcorn.org/phpmyadmin/ widely available, not even https so that no one can sniff the traffic. Any scriptkiddie with a trafficsniffer could easily grab the password off that, not to mention its an old version of phpmyadmin which has known hacks readily available, in my opinion and in the opinion of the creators of Gazelle, PHPMYADMIN IS FAIL, learn to use SQL via SSH or dont use it at ALL, no one cares if its easier for you, but we do care if its safer for all the members on site. So right about then im thinking to myself, why the hell am i still at passthepopcorn.org, i really dont think it has a future. I head back to What.Cd Forums, invite section, same place i came across PassThePopcorn, to my surprise i see 2 interesting looking movie sites, TehConnection and Goem. So I spend a few hours over 3 days at Goem.org and TehConnection.eu, I was able to get an invite to Goem.org on irc.p2p-network.net in their support channel within 10 mins, TehConnection was open signups was able to get on in a sinch, at which point I also headed to their irc @ irc.tehconnection.eu. Call me an a**hole, but I am so glad PtP disappointed me because I would have never found Goem.org and TehConnection.eu. What can i say about Goem.org, such a big selection of movies, the server is stable and secure, the amount of sheer peers is amazing, the site is programmed as well as can be for a TBsource based site, the integrated features is fantastic, Goem.org is definitely one of my favourite trackers now. Now, TehConnection.eu, some people call it a rival site to PtP, and I can see why, but I guess its not much of a rivally when TehConnection blows PtP out of the water in every single aspect. If god is reading this, smite me and the ones i love if im not speaking the truth, TehConnection is the most amazing looking, perfectly programmed BitTorrent site i have ever laid eyes on, their integration of design & features is so amazing, it puts What.Cd and their entire development team to shame. I spend a several hours in IRC aswell, and I felt at home, the users and staff are so friendly and so skilled with encoding, not just leeching off some FTP dump and uploading like PtP, its sheer brilliance, I took some time to msg one of their staff members, and ask what sort of securities they had in place to protect the users and staff, and the first thing the staffer said to me was, “try and hack it”, he then explained all the protocols they had in place and I was in awe. They seem to have introduced CaratNetworks previously known as ClearanceRack to all other Torrent sites, allowing for the “hydra” affect you hear so much on TorrentFreak.com, CaratNetworks is owned by a friend of TC’s owner, the sites, the domains, everything registered with the site is tunneled through an offshore dummy corporation so that no actual people are involved, the server itself is firewalled on a secret ssh port that allows only 2 ip address used staff located in 2 undisclosed location on seperate ends of the earth. The entire development team from TehConnection isnt just hobby php users, half of them develop for a living and the other half are gifted with programming various languages as if it was handed down from the gods themselves. Anywho, i think im talking to much, I only have advice for PtP Staff and Users now, while the site is under control of Pham, nothing good will come from it, Staff Rebel it is your only option, or head to Goem or TehConnection, I know many of you arent fond of them, but they will surprise you and show you that they are way better than PtP ever could be, Users, the decisions is yours, stay with a site thats not gonna go anywhere but down, or start contributing to stronger, better communities and make one special site the #1 movie based torrent tracker in the torrent world.
I’m done i guess, the decision is yours, I have removed all my personal info from my PtP account and left it to be deleted from the database.
