The Death of TrackeReactor? Closed or Hacked?
August 07, 09 by sharky 5,394 viewsOn first glance it would appear that in a surprise move by LiquidizleR - the owner/sysop of TrackeReactor.com - has closed down the popular torrent invites & discussion forum. The decision was a tough & personal one, as he no longer felt able to lead the forum as he should, due to college and lack of time (so the story goes). Even TR’s IRC channel is also currently offline. But this may have been much more than just a simple closure, and many suspect foul play.
Update: TrackeReactor is currently open for signups at this URL: http://trackereactor.com/register.php

If the closure is indeed genuine, there’s no word yet on whether the TrackeReactor code - or a site backup - will be passed along to someone else willing to set it up on a different domain. Likely the above message is not genuine, but only time will tell.
TR Hacked …again? In an odd twist, there’s mention of Liquid and TrackerReactor on the site http://torrentinvites.com:
To further complicate (or clarify) issues, a prominent member of TR posted a message at FST suggesting that the domain was indeed hacked:
"The Domains Were hacked and stolen, And that message [at TR] was wrote by the hacker. TR is not selling out. We have been up all night regaining control in which we have again, and we are clean sweeping the database and will be back up soon…"
We’ll update this post as more news comes in.

“Guys somehow or another our domains were taken control of by Douchebag at T-I. We don’t know how they stole our domains but they changed the DNS to their servers and put up some bogus message.  I’m not selling TR so don’t worry about that.  The site should be alright but just in case you guys might want to change your passwords when we get the site back up and running.  Other than that I’d like to thank staff for helping me out with this shit.  Btw this is the real liquid.  z3r0…aka batman your sister is mad hot

Hello Everyone,
Been awhile since I got to make a post as a staffer, feels good.
As most of you know, tR was recently hacked by the torrent-invites team once again. Well, after Pandora Hosting contacted the domain registrar, and after I redid a lot of things - we have this.
tR, as of July 17th, 2009.
We lost stuff - and we still have to clean up some ‘extras’ around the ftp, but other then that - tR is back, and safe. I, along with the rest of the tR team, will make sure this never happens again.
The issue was not actually with us, or Pandora Hosting. It was with our domain name registrar, which was exploited. For those of you who don’t know what this means, rest assure that there will be justice - as this is a case of internet fraud.
ISPs/etc are investigating and taking care of the people who did this as we speak.

I find it amazing that people who are obviously on the internet don’t know anything about it.
When you say “the site was hacked”, do you know what you are saying?
TR was not hacked if I read your article (and ignore the title of the post). It seems someone tried a “hostile domain takeover”, but this got nothing to do with hacking.
I think you should think twice and get the facts straight before you write an article like this with only rumours and blatant disrespect for any knowledge about the workings of websites.
Oh btw twitter was hacked! Ooopsss sorry, no it wasn’t. It was a ddos. Or was it something else? Hmmm.

Hmmm…. If they really only took over the domain names, they wouldn’t need to put up a backup db and fresh code. As the domain name has nothing to do with their server… Unless they are hosting the DNS on their own server, in either case some one got the message wrong or their just lying.

To explain what happened.
TR itself was not responsible for the worse part of the hack.
While there were files uploaded to the server that should not have been there, nothing malicious just different types of software (a forum, a tracker, a torrentspy copy) that they tried to replace ours with, I have erased all traces of them from the system. This is probably from a leaked FTP password (maybe from a former staff member who got ‘upset’), or something similar. The code was not to blame (there really isn’t that much modified code on a vbulletin board….)
The real issue was the Domain Name Registrar which claims to have had a ‘one time glitch’ that was use in a malicious way to steal two domains that pointed to tR. The issue has been dealt with and the domains are now back in tR’s possession.

Well i have had the site up for most of the day without any problems and i know for a fact that there is no false sign-in.
So for the people that think there is still some sort of scam… dont worry sign in and get back to the best forum in the planet.

Those of you who are still having issues connecting - you have to wait until the DNS re-propagates unfortunately. Could take up to three days. I recommend you go to the beach or something. Have a nice relaxing swim. Enjoy the summer.

For all the people who don’t know anything about TR, I tell you TR is one Community you are really missing, The people out there are so chilled out and filled with so much humour that you will really enjoy your time out there.
I’ve been to many forums, but the staff and senior members of TR stand out from the rest, i found them really nice, like they are not bossy creature’s who will just try to take you down for your mistakes, instead they try to help you in a friendly way, the same goes with senior members out there, they are really helpful and they will accept you for what you are with there open arms.
The IRC out there is one happening place and the jokes which people throw at each other genuinely makes you laugh out loud. [A couple of times my sis asked me, Hey why are you laughing starring the white screen, i wish i could explain her] Soon i joined the guys in jokes and started mixxing up, But it was not long till i was banned… Damn i really had good times there and even though i’m banned there [I'm banned from P2P trackers for ratio cheating] TR is still in my good books and I really don’t understand what kind of person could have hatred towards such a nice community.
P.S : I’m NOT trying to make my way back in by saying this stuff, its what i genuinely feel about TR. I just wanted to people out there know such an awesome community TR is,
