The creators of Bitt.tv have shut down the site due to lack of donations
in favor of a different model that charges $24 USD for a yearly
subscription to their new ratio-free TV tracker at http://vizz.tv. So instead of running a top-notch torrent tracker
(which they obviously failed at) where members will gladly donate, why
not charge a one-time flat fee just so members can gain entrance? -
without even offering a single iota of detail about what’s behind the
$24 curtain. Talk about taking the ‘free’ out of BitTorrent - here’s the
message staff sent out today to existing members of Bitt.tv:

We have had a few changes (like you haven’t noticed) unfortunately we had to close bitt.tv due to lack of donations…
But the good news is we’ve started a new site ViZZ.Tv where there are big changes.. biggest being WE DON’T MONITOR RATIO!!! yes you heard right no more ratio driven site, yes theres ratio on your stats but you’ll never get a warning for bad ratio.. ratio has been kept purley for games and casino.
only thing we ask is you seed minimum 48hours for the whole week.. so seeding few hours a day won’t kill you right!!
so how to join this new and exiting site.. well, were only allowing max of 400 users on the site allready have about 30 so only 370 places left
heres the bad news only way in is yearly subscription of $24usd.. well it’s not that bad of a news
that will cover all site cost so no more worries about shutting the site down due to lack of donations

As we’ve advocated several times here at FSF - keep your credit card in your wallet.

Initially I thought $24 wasn’t that much if we get to have Excellent Unlimited TV Content , but I never thought of the total they would gather. Clearly a Business they are setting up X(

It’s not a problem to donate $24 for a year, but the greater problem is being FORCED to donate $24 without having any idea about what’s inside. And I knew the old Bitt.tv - there’s no chance in hell that they were hosted on multiple servers. Good, very popular trackers are indeed hosted on multiple servers, but you’re mistaken with Bitt.tv. A simple whois check confirms that Bitt.tv is hosted on an OVH Kimsufi:

And even if a site runs multiple seedboxes to host content, it’s only ~£20/mo. for OVH Kimis anyways. Very few trackers shell out mad dollars for a top-of-the-line server in which it’ll only be used for torrents.
But $800 a month for server/seedbox costs? (and that only counts the monthly revenue generated from the first 400 signups under ‘beta’). A torrent tracker with only 400 members doesn’t require a server with a 1Gbps dedicated pipe running a Quad Core Xeon L5410 & 16GB RAM.

Why would users pay for something they can get for free in a better form? Even just looking at the site you can see the staff there cant even do something as simple as working a bit html.
Not to mention the fact users are paying $24 usd to share there content where there is no guarentee users will keep it seeded for them.
Also they charge on a yearly basis? I highly doubt this site will last long enough for peoples subscription to expire so what happens when this fails? do users get there money back as i cant see a use for there money as the server costs aint that much…

Wow, the nerve of some people. What in the world makes them think that people are stupid enough to pay $24 to get access to some crappy half-assed tv-tracker when they can get those exact same releases faster (and for free i might add) from excellent sites such as SCC, SCT etc.
These are the sort of asshats that the MPAA and RIAA need to be hunting down and prosecuting, not some house-wife whos son downloaded some .mp3, what the hell has this world of ours come to.

i joined a great tv tracker only been open a couple of month nearly 6,000 members already and whats good about it is they dont just do normal up to date tv show they do loads of classic tv and classic movies http://www.xtremetv.org you tv lovers should go and check them out fast speeds aswell
