The Dominating Trackers - Part II - Other Scene Trackers
November 16, 09 by sharky 12,568 viewsScT, SCC & GFT aren’t the only trackers with quality sceneaxx; other well-established sites - and even some newer ones - are also vying to provide fast pretimes on scene releases. Smaller, relatively unknown 0day trackers are surprisingly competitive at racing scene content and will often specialize in certain genres. Larger general trackers may also have scene access, although the majority of torrents come from uploaders who rip off the torrents from scene trackers.
Popular hybrid scene/P2P trackers such as BitSoup, IPTorrents & RevolutionTT also have scene access (but generally it is limited or not exploited to its full potential). But more importantly, they have uploaders who have accounts at trackers that DO have scene access, and simply steal the releases. It works like this: there are members at ScT & SCC who quickly download & reupload the same releases to BitSoup or IPT - the process is as simple as using RSS feeds, a seedbox, and then change the announce of a torrent and upload it. When you see a tracker that is consistently 10-20 minutes behind the afterpre of typical scene trackers, likely (but not always) this is the case of stolen releases - either that or really bad axx, but probably the former. While widespread, typically this behavior is frowned upon - and some members even get caught and evidently banned from scene trackers, including a very recent case involving a popular IPT uploader who got busted on ScT. It’s worth mentioning that TorrentLeech - also a hybrid tracker - is one of just a few trackers that requires all uploaders to possess their own scene access, thus guaranteeing that releases are never ’stolen’.
However, not all general trackers that offer scene/P2P releases have scene access; in fact, most don’t. Take IPTorrents for example - we could find no solid evidence to suggest that they have real sceneaxx outside of uploaders that take from other trackers. While IPT does index scene releases, they have about as much scene access as Demonoid or Mininova - less if this was possible. However, they do have an army of uploaders and internal/P2P groups on their side. Whether or not IPT is a dominating tracker is up for debate, but they are certainly not ’scene’. But these trackers below do have scene access (listed in no particular order).
Torrentit.eu
Torrentit.eu is one of the oldest private trackers around, but has only recently acquired decent sceneaxx and is beginning to tally up some great pretime numbers. Ranked #5 overall in points as reported by a respected private trace, TiT is competitive without offering all the unnecessary scene prespam. According to Trac3.me TiT has torrent raced 4,117 times and ranked in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place 70% of the time.

Aside from great pretimes and non-spam content, TiT boasts a well-rounded group of experienced members - their request system has a filled rate of 71%, way above average to other torrent sites. If not mistaken, registration is currently open at TiT but it’s been said this won’t last long. All new members receive 5 GB upload credit to start with, as well all torrents are now freeleech for the time being.
TorrentIt History: Was founded in 2004 as 123Torrents. Due to the loss of the 123T domain name and inability to negotiate satisfactorily with the domain squatter who grabbed it, torrentit.com was registered (temporarily at first, then permanent when a settlement couldn’t be reached). The current pirate theme on the site was implemented in March 2005, and became synonymous with the TorrentIt (aka TiT) name. TorrentIt was eventually shut down in April, 2006 by BREIN who went after the owner (but couldn’t touch the server, as it was hosted in Malaysia at the time). The database was wiped; no data was seized, although a "few" people still had copies of it. It wasn’t until January 2007 that ex-staff (not including the original owner) got together and decided to reopen TiT. There were some hiccups in the relaunch; in August 2008 (with the help of DH coders) the database was ported over to Gazelle, and TiT officially reopened on September 20th, 2008.
TorrentVault.org
TorrentVault has been busy migrating the old TBDev site over to a scratch Gazelle codebase, and already lists an impossible 10,000+ torrents in three weeks since coming back as v2.0. Just to give a perspective on how much quantity TorrentVault is capable of, over the past 48 hours TV has added over 1,100 new torrents (and 3,800 over the last week). Not only does TV index just about everything scene-related, they also have P2P releases, packs, filled requests and misc. uploader-provided content.

TorrentVault is headed for greatness, and competes with the Top 3 scene trackers for pretimes. In a private trace, TV is listed in fourth place for both points and wins - and on p2p-net.eu is ranked 2nd in spam and 3rd in non-spam. Very impressive stats considering they’ve only had good sceneaxx for about 4 months now. Aside from the hodgepodge array of pred releases, TV also features daily 0day/apps packs, music videos (and MDVDRs), TV/movie boxsets, and a separate section with filled requests.
TorrentVault IRC - Only one channel is open to both members and non-members, in #tv-help at irc.torrentvault.org:9011. Members can access the main channel #tv (where non-spam releases are announced, as well as general chat), a #pre channel, and #tv-spam (apps/music/0day are annouced here).
ChronicTracker.com
ChronicTracker is an often-overlooked gem among 0day trackers. Decent pretimes and continuously fresh content make this scene tracker one of the most underrated trackers on the ‘net. While CT isn’t especially known for adding a lot of content (only 50-60 torrents hit the tracker on any given day), CT makes up for it by avoiding the scene spam.

Torrent retention at CT could be much better than it is (the oldest active torrent is from August 9th 2009), considering the tracker has been around since 2005. Speeds range from quite poor to above average, but seeding is easy and all members receive 45MB upload credit just for idling in IRC. While ChronicTracker might occasionally run open registration, the easiest method to get in is to go through their #CT.support IRC channel.
DigitalHive.org
DigitalHive has really begun to crank out the torrents lately, and has added 900 new ones during the past 7 days alone. While officially online for 3½ years, DH has been in it’s current format since Sept. ‘08 (torrents older than this don’t exist). Content is mostly scene-related (with pretimes attached to them) although there are also user-uploaded torrents & a decent selection of TV/Movie packs.

- - IRC-idle bonus: 15MB an hour which works out to 350MB a day!
- - Often has open registration - http://www.digitalhive.org/signup.php
TorrentLeech.org
Out of all the English private trackers that exist, TorrentLeech is probably the most popular, unless you count Demonoid as ‘private’. Few realize that TorrentLeech actually has excellent scene-access on its own (complete with autoupload connected through IRC services) although they don’t particularly need it, since they possess more than 100 uploaders who have their own scene access (a requisite to becoming an uploader at TL is to have ’scene access’ which doesn’t include simply having accounts at other scene trackers). While TL won’t be winning any awards for quickness throughout most of their categories (TV releases being the exception; the one category that TL excels in), TL more than makes up for this small shortcoming by serving up a high number of new releases, special packs, & a peerlist that most trackers can only dream about.
- Online Since: January, 2005.

- Members: 179,734

On any given day, members can expect to find 225 - 300 new torrents added to the tracker. New torrents that were added (and still active) during the last 30 days is 6,000 which suggests above-average retention - thanks largely to the 180K users.
RevolutionTT.net
RevolutionTT keeps itself out of both private and public trace/Db listings, so stats regarding pretimes are difficult to gauge (it can be from minutes to hours). Similar to TL, RTT gets the majority of its content from uploaders, not axx. However, it’s a known fact that RTT does have sceneaxx, mostly being used for TV-episode releases in which RTT has great pretimes for. The rule of thumb is - the larger the release, the longer the pretime. Which is greatly amplified when rls are taken from other trackers, downloaded, seeded to 1:1 and then uploaded to another site (this process can take hours, especially for large torrents, clearly evident in RTT’s Movie/x264 category where the pretimes would be measured in hours, not minutes). That, or really bad axx for movie rls.

We’re not singling out RTT (and TL) for ripping off other trackers - hundreds of sites do this; and neither have claimed to be scene trackers, which they aren’t. They are general trackers with a mix of P2P & scene content that skillfully utilize multiple sources for their torrents.
HeavenTracker.org
HeavenTracker is a Polish 0day/general tracker that also indexes most English scene releases as well as Polish content. The site is cleverly divided into two sections (the main browse page for non-spam, and a secondary page for MP3/0day/XXX-spam - all torrents are freeleech in this section). On average, 250+ new torrents are added to the site daily, split pretty much equally throughout both browse pages. HT is considered to be the one of the best Polish trackers, second only to PolishTracker.org. It should be mentioned that there’s a 72 hour wait period for Polish torrents (for regular members).

PolishTracker.org
PolishTracker is considered by many to be the best Polish 0day tracker. Pretimes are great, there’s loads of content coming in, and speeds are first-class. While PT features both English & Polish scene releases, the Polish ones have a small flag icon next to them making it easy to distinguish between the two. While there’s no bonus system, there are thousands of freeleech torrents to choose from in 0day and music categories.

The previous article was on the 1337 trackers which have excellent pre-times, now these are trackers which can be replacements for ppl who cant get into scc/sct..

@RANDOM
I think you mis-understood my statement.Didnt you read what I said? “quote-This will throw some light to good trackers for guys looking for 1337 trackers only that elite is not always the best.Good article, great read and keepup the good work”
What I meant by this “quote-But I must say this is “sharkys favourite trackers” as zzenn mentioned before in the other article.” is that not almost everything is correct and each one has his own personal choices and importance given to pre times isint what everyone is after
08 • RandoM Says: 17.11.09 at 12:01 am
Yes. For alot of people, pre-time isn’t important. But sharky is clearly talking about pre-times in this article, and he correctly identified ones which have good pre-times.
Obviously if you’re not after pre-times, then TL, revtt, and IPT are some of the best..
09 • wow Says: 17.11.09 at 12:15 am

TorrentIt and ChronicTracker have barely any peers and are terrible trackers.
There are very good 0day trackers with lots of activity, sceneaxx, and good pretimes that are not listed here.

Compare RevTT pre release with IPT. i am sure IPT pre release is 10 times faster then RevTT.
TL and IPT pre is good and both match each other but RevTT sucks.

017 • You Cry-Babies Says: 17.11.09 at 7:10 am
I agree that TV will only get better as time goes on, but comparing it to TL or IPT is dumb. I don’t know how anyone could actually think TL and IPT don’t have superb pretimes. Those two trackers have an insane amount of shit and good speeds, not to mention they both have plenty of torrents that are unique to their sites.
TiT is a joke, DH is a joke, Chronic is a joke. Every tracker in this article is a joke, except for TL, IPT, and maybe TV (for now, anyways).
Take any two of these: SCC, SCT, GFT, TL, IPT….and you’ve got access to just about anything you’ll ever need or want.

Great article sharky, I love the plain, factual and neutral portray of the trackers mentioned here! THIS sort of info is what tracker invites should be sought for! (Not rarity).
So this is refreshing to see, after, I must admit, some other articles in recent months which have had an uncomfortable amount of pro-WTAW tone in it. (or at least, a certain sensational tone when touching the subject of rarity, which should be discouraged).
And thanks for respecting the wishes of F** trackers - it’s good to be inline with the tracker community, and not be hated by trackers.
Coming up - the dominating non scene trackers (in music, movies, games etc. categories)? Please say yes!!!

030 • RIAAtarded Says: 17.11.09 at 1:19 pm
The writer of this article is misinformed. I seriously doubt he spoke with any of the tracker staff involved, furthermore he is making statements and claims he has no direct knowledge of. Most of the larger sites have scene axx. Just because it is on one site first doesn’t mean it was stolen from there and upped to all other site. I’m sure some of the smaller sites do operate that way but every site I’m a member of it is stated clearly in the rules / FAQs not to upload their torrents elsewhere. It is a banning offence and if caught you lose both sites. Every site I’ve been a member of scene axx is actually a question in your uploader app. That is something the writer would know had he held that level on a tracker.
PS there is more to a tracker then racing. If that is your benchmark for dominating it is only a small portion of what makes a tracker great. Most users don’t even know what pretime are, I’ve got friends who have uploaded TBs and not one of them tracks that info or cares. They just want to find what they are looking for and have the ability to seed it back to maintain their ratios. Ask them who won the race on it you’ll get a blank stare.

Actually # 30 having large amounts of qualtiy torrents available quickly and then downloading it fast to your pc is at least 50% of what most people want. Virtually most tv,games , and movies are available on bitsoup. However often they are not there till the next day and the dl speeds are ok but not great. A nice layout, forums, bonus point systems are all gravy. Having an account on GFT , I have found countless times when a tv show or movie arrives two minutes after pretime , late in the evening and I am able to download and watch it that night. What are these other sites you say are so good.

@30 - Actually, sharky DID talk to staff from at least ONE tracker that I’m aware of, that would be TiT, and that would be me he spoke with.
To all the people who throw out the comments about how this site sucks or that site’s better, it’s almost totally subjective, and thus not worth listening to your opinions. Don’t be a shill for pre times, or for collecting. Honestly, the only reason we bother with axx at TiT is because 90% of torrenters out there are only loyal to whomever can get them their fix the quickest, and that means if one site falls off for a few days, they’re gone faster than a john with a 2 dollar hooker.
When I look at how torrenting has changed in the last five years, I think we were honestly better off when pre times were measured sometimes in DAYS, not in seconds. People actually cared more then, when it meant more to them, when everything out there wasn’t taken for granted. Look at your average torrent page now. The uploader is lucky to get 25% of those people commenting or clicking a measly thanks button COMBINED. Back when I was an active uploader, that number was a lot closer to 50%, and people actually tried to be helpful with their comments. All we have now are a whole bunch of ungrateful torrent whores who are incapable of making an objective observation and couldn’t pick out an all-around good site if it punched them in the face.
I’m not here to advertize TiT, because the people who find it valuable will be the ones who are looking for a lot more than just how fast they can e-wank to their latest pr0n, TV, or movie download. It’s not just about fast torrents, kids, regardless of what you may think. If you think interacting with people online and getting involved in a torrent community are a waste of your time, because “it’s just the internet,” then I feel sorry for you. You have no idea how much more you could be experiencing by finding a site that has a good community. Those sites are worth far more than any speeds can ever be. Good communities have members who share things with each other, no questions asked. If you spent some time investing in a tracker’s community, you’d find that there aren’t many places you want to go that you can’t get into. This assumes you’re the type of person who doesn’t try to fleece others, naturally.
All that said, sharky may be off with some facts, but he’s actually giving something to you free of charge, and that is his time and effort. Did you do a few hours of research and discussion to get the numbers and facts he has? No? Then shut up and let the man talk. He, like torrent trackers, invested himself in this, to bring you something FOR FREE. And naturally, a large portion of you fail to see it, or couldn’t care less. This is why, though torrents are more popular than ever, the torrent scene is going to shit, and the anti-piracy groups are more active than ever. Lots of people who don’t have a clue what this kind of thing is really worth, and they flaunt it all over the place, thus bringing down far more retaliation upon all of us than there ever would be if the whole of the torrenting population took less for granted, and actually cared.
And since there’s bound to be someone sniping at my commentary, go ahead and put your torrent resume up against mine, and let’s see who has more insight and more knowledge on how things really work. I’m sorry, but it’s always the snotty little kids who screw it up for the rest of us. You can’t respect knowledge, and we can’t respect stupidity. The war will rage forever, but thank God for my being one of those who at least knows how to be grateful for everything that he gets, for FREE.

torrentvault may be decent site for getting torrents, but most of their staff are complete jerks and their irc has the most abrasive chat of any torrent site irc i have ever been in.
