SceneTorrents Shutting Down For Good - Confirmed

In addition to a message posted by ScT staff on their homepage which states that, indeed, ScT will be gone forever as of tomorrow night at 10PM GMT - The latest news/MOTD on their IRC channel confirms this, as well as a mass PM sent out to all 20,000 ScT members. After a short chat with the owner of ScT - Feeling has confirmed that this is not a hoax.

What happened? Not many know for sure, but there’s been a lot of speculation that it involved their topsite "Loop" which had recently been raided by BREIN on November 27th. Brein cites Amsterdam topsite offline
Brein collecting society has the “topsite” ranked ‘Loop’ to get offline. The topsite, that many groups would provide content to release, was hosted in Amsterdam. A judge has requested from the servers seized Brein withdrawn.
Brein-director Tim Kuik says to Tweakers.net that Brein is now no longer will focus primarily on torrent sites. We have first focused on torrent sites, because they were important in the dissemination of films, music, software and games. Speaking through the U.S. court case have been over, it’s time for us to focus on other places where illegal sharing of file occurs".
The site where the servers have been seized, is called a ranked topsite. This site was content to P2P sites and usenet correctly. It was difficult to access a site, because you a member of the staff should be invited. I hope that this seizure is a shock through the scene".
Brein, the right one "ex-parte leave" requested. This means that the court takes a decision without hearing the other party. Based on the evidence of Brein, the court decided that the servers Loop seizure could be taken. The administrators can then do ask the court to reverse the seizure.
The servers, who were in Amsterdam, was (home) to 40TB of files present. Kuik could not say whether Dutch managers were involved in the site. It is possible that the administrators will be legally prosecuted.

Were we saddened to learn about the recent story of Mininova evolving over to a "content distribution" model? Not really, no - Mininova is simply a torrent indexer. By now most of you already know that ScT will be going offline permanently.
However, due to pending legal issues, we are not at liberty to speak freely about why we’ve chosen to take down the site. Members of our staff were arrested and will be undergoing the entire length of the judicial process. Obviously, in the case of criminal proceedings, it would be downright foolish to comment any further on the situation;
Please bear this in mind and wish them the best of luck.
There have been several theories as to where the donation money (of the recent months) has gone. We’d like to take this opportunity to put all skepticism to rest.
The money was used to purchase new hardware that would ensure our spot as the fastest tracker on the net.
You are free to perform whatever calculations you feel necessary, but in doing so it should become very clear that running a site of this stature costs money. We feel the overwhelming cynicism is just a product of bad timing compounded with general frustration caused by the current situation.
We sincerely hope that you’ve enjoyed being a part of our wonderful community over the past 4 1/2 years. We’ve certainly enjoyed our members letting us be of service. We’ve always felt our user base played an equally important role in making SceneTorrents.org a model environment in the torrent world.
The staff would also like to express their gratitude to fellow trackers for their support in such a chaotic time. Several well known communities have voluntarily opened their doors, and have offered our former users a new home. They ran LOOP, and from the affiliate groups and traders at LOOP they got all (or most; who knows what other sites they ran) the content to their little paytoleech shitfest (SCT).

hey not all people that run trackers are douchebags and off course its important to keep on donating so that trackers can grow and all costs can be payed. You can just generalize and put all in the same basket. Some communities are better and some are worse. Donate where you feel you get something good back. This was a sad story and a bad way to go, but I am sure that most of the members now have found a new better home where they can get the feeling of how a real good community works.

ScT wasn’t getting fed from LOOP. That “honor” goes, or did go, to another site known as X or Sparta. SCC uses that as well, no surprise knowing Feeling and chalisto are in bed together and enjoy docking. Look that up on Urban Dictionary for a laugh.
Feeling, who liked to brag in private IRC channels about how he was buying this or that with ScT donation money, and is alleged to have used donation money to pay for at least part of his car. Also, anyone noticed that scenetorrents2.org was registered yesterday?
chalisto, known in a previous torrent life as eristalfa01, who was globally banned from the torrent scene for stealing code that wasn’t his from beta code AL was working on in 2006, and also used an old/stolen ScT database to spam for members when SCC first opened. Also lists himself as GOD on SCC.
Fantastic people to “lead” the torrenting community, fine people indeed. And complimentary staff who talk down to everyone and tell them “you are nobody here.” A Great places to donate to, aren’t they? These are the people you laud as “gods of the torrent world”…..In a world with gods like this, I think I’d prefer Hell, rather than Heaven. And no, I’m not jealous for not having gotten in to either. I’ve been on ScT, and beyond pre times that YOUR money paid for, it had nothing worthwhile. SCC, yeah, wouldn’t be there if you paid me, not when chalisto bans staffers who are from sites he stole from, just because he didn’t like the sites. And yes, I have very good sources, and I’ve been around in the private torrent scene for a very long time as well.
Hope you don’t wind up on yet another site where the staff treat you like shit, and expect you to pay for THAT privilege, people.

We know that all sites siphon off donations for personal use, but ScT staff got caught. idiots. Sct was no better than any other top 0day tracker out there. Sure it was fast, but TL, GFT, SCC, PTM and even RTT were just as fast and had much of the same content (even some of the packs). Bottom line, who cares. Astraweb ftw. Fuck torrents.

All of you guys are speculating.. ScT was never connected to LOOP and thats not the reason ScT was closed. if they were down because of loop they would have pulled all their DB servers so no one could get access to their database. DB server and IRC server is up. and you can get lots of evidence against them from bother servers. Its because of TAX, anyone who runs a tracker from a Western Nation knows tax laws and that if you make money and doesnt have proper proof. whether its internet or in person the tax man will get you onces it goes to your bank account. and the amount of Money ScT makes has to be registered in someones account.
