Demonoid Returns After a 3 Month Blackout

If you haven’t heard the news by now, Demonoid has finally made their return; as TorrentFreak caught the scoop early this morning. Many feared the worst: accounts that may have vanished, or ratios not being updated correctly (not that this really matters). Not much of this has happened, mind you - Demonoid seems to be running almost exactly as it did before the extended downtime. But whatever happened to all the torrents?

Demonoid’s Missing Torrents

Stats suggest that Demonoid has lost 25 percent of their torrents, which includes mostly their own internally-tracked ones. Demonoid presently lists 212,380 total torrents (down from 283,606 on September 1st).

Their heaviest loss comes from their internal torrents, as Demonoid shows to have lost nearly 30% of their overall "internal" torrent database. Part of this could be attributed to Demonoid’s own losses when the site/tracker went down, but we suspect that most likely the issue stems from people simply not seeding their torrents anymore. And who can blame them? Three months is a long time to leave inactive torrents seeding in a home BitTorrent client.

The torrent count is beginning to rebound nicely, we might add. More than 600 new torrents have already been added to Demonoid today alone (370 of them hosted on their own tracker).

At the time of this post, Demonoid’s forums (fora) are still offline, and the site is not open directly to new registration. Their invite system is fully functional, feel free to post registration codes - surely there are new torrenters that have yet to experience Demonoid.

    I wouldnt doubt that the server would be busy, i wonder how many users are all online right now trying to access the site.

    But give some time and the site would back to normal.

    Demonoid login difficulties;
    I can’t seem to log in, what do I do? (Also known as the Log-In of Death)

    If you can’t log in and your sign in information is correct, try deleting your cookies and restarting your browser. You should now be able to log in properly. This is usually an error when dealing with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

    My ratio is getting too low, am I going to be banned?
    The ratio system is purely statistical and somewhat innacurate for the ones with shared or dynamic ips. Besides what other users may think of you for not sharing, there is no punishment for having a low ratio.

    Can I invite my friend to Demonoid?
    You sure can! You can access the “invite” feature under your control panel. The link is on the upper right corner of every page .. This will generate a code that the receiver will have to input when they register. There is a set number of invites so use them wisely.

    Invitations;

    To invite someone to the site, give him/her one of the following invitation codes, and the account registration address:

    Please note: To avoid abuse, invitations are limited. Also, if someone you invite gets warned/banned, you might get warned/banned too.

    I ‘ve been using Demonoid for the last 4 years - a registererd/regular user at that( almost every day I used to visit this site).. Demonoid had become part of my life since. It was exciting to know it is back. Unfortunately, I am not able to access the site . I get only the ‘ Server is too Busy’ message and thereafter, a blank white page.

    I do not even know if my registration still exist.

    Iam in India. I had also deleted the cookies and tried. I had also tried with the IP address of demonoid as mentioned herein. No results. Has it not started operating in India yet?

    Has anyone noticed some disappearing internal demonoid files happening just recently? I was look in at about 10 windows 7 download torrents yesterday and today they were all gone and nowhere to be found except that i still had the links saved in my history which worked and the torrent is still there. Only when i search for those torrents, they don’t show up. Could be a glitch? Or maybe they’re slowly taking away copyrighted material? However, i notice that the windows 7 activators and cracks are being removed also… so idk
