Interviews for Etiv.in (Invite Forum) Now Open

Etiv.in is one of those torrent invite forums that essentially remains mostly a closed-system. Rarely does Etiv have registration open directly (just twice in their site history; both times were related to FSF articles). Nor do they have a perpetually-open IRC #invite channel for aspiring members to apply - the last time this occurred was back in October for just two short days. From now until January 1st, Etiv has opened a special #christmas-interview channel - now’s your chance to get into one of the ‘nets premier torrent forums.

Etiv & Trackers

Most torrent forums (but not all) dissuade their members from using the same username on the board as they do on their private tracker accounts. Etiv is striving to work together with private trackers:

The Culture of BitTorrent and specifically invite forums is ever changing. The Etiv staff strives to provide the best possible environment for our electronic family to share information and invites as well as just hang out. The Admins here have been running P2P forums together for close to 3 years. When Etiv launched over the summer, through our prior experiences felt it was best to bar the use of your tracker name here at Etiv. This policy was driven by a few bad experiences with trackers banning our users for GAs.

 

As Etiv has grown over we have come to realize that this is counter-productive. We have nothing to hide and in fact we have common goals with the trackers: We seek to enrich the BT scene by educating newbs in the BT Culture and connecting quality torrenters with quality trackers. I would like to work with the trackers instead of operating in the shadows.

 

Etiv’s policy of mandating our users not to use their tracker name is over - effective immediately.

    It’s a decent forum run by a great bunch of guys. I like the recent rule changes. It puts them clearly in the class of forums that are trying to show some respect for the trackers and to do some good for the community and find some good members which every tracker is looking for.

    If you consider yourself a good member, not a cheater or trader, then this is definitely a forum you want to join.

    I see great potential for this one, and I highly recommend it.

    How can you call this place a place that is setting examples they had post saying that they had no problem with trading but were deleted before most people could see them. They call tracker staff nazis because they want them to go by there rules of there tracker. They make a review for a tracker that wants to be secret causing all kinds of conflict.     How is that any kind of example of a great upcoming forum? They have you a big time trader on there forum like you it makes me wonder how many others are there? Why would anyone want to be involved with a place that can’t follow the simplest rules of a tracker? Its not about having balls its about having respect for the places you like to be.

    There is nothing wrong with discussing your personal views of trading in a debate thread. Debating and participating are two entirely different things. Just because we have a debate thread doesnt mean we allow trading or condone it.

    Also, you make it seem like we allow traders on our forums but you can take a look at our ban log and see how wrong that is. Anyone who is reported for trading is instantly banned including those that were reported from other invite forums or trackers.

    For those of you good members interested in joining we’d love to have you. I’m not sure why we’re being flamed for having an open discussion but we’re not going to censor anyone’s opinions and we truly do have a great bunch of members

    I’ve been observing the controversy surrounding Etiv lately (Forbidden review, Pro trading views…). And as a seasoned torrenter, i have to say Etiv seems rather shady. For a tracker invite forum, you would think Etiv would, without a doubt, agree and comply with any given trackers Rules. Good thing there are other commendable invite forums such as TR, TPS, TIC, NS…

    We have a topic in the Serious section of the forums where people are allowed to debate over topics. One topic in that forum is Trading. It’s not a thread to trade. We are debating why trading is bad. As Carl has said, we instantly ban people that we find out are traders. Uriel was/is innocent.

    Etiv should be commended for setting their own moral compass, thinking for themselves, and not being afraid to openly discuss normally taboo subjects in a logical, organized fashion.
    Their main goal is, and always will be, to make the torrenting community better by educating new and experienced user alike.

    BUT what you cannot do is just because you do not agree with one or several rules of a tracker just go ahead and break those rules or allow breaking of those rules on your board.

    Trackers have rules for a reason, they are there to protect the site, the members and the staff. I know you think you know some stuff better and so do many, but have you actually staffed a tracker? What makes you think you know it better?

    True or false all information in the screenshots were published by CN, any damage done is the result of CN publishing the info 1st, not like I breached CN’s servers and stole data that wasn’t being published by CN.

    Oh and what is the reason for a rule saying don’t mention our name or url in public when CN does it themselfs?

    I ‘ve been a member at etiv for a while and the staff are always quick to help you and the forums are always active, yes you get your odd Scum that manage to creep their way into the
    doors but hey so does every other invite forum site and they would be lying if they said they didn’t but are weeded out so quickly sometimes yuo don’t notice that were there and thats why staff like Beagle (yea beagle I do know you m8 :P) and Frylock are considered
    such awesome staff at their respective forums. My dissappointment stems from the way this thread was handled and how it got out of hand staff should of known that there would be flamers and you know that there will always be those that will stay sceptical until your site dies so they can say I told you so I just wish you guys woul dhave been the bigger dudes. Nyway you still have a gem don’t let BS like this bring it down.
