25 New Private Trackers: January 2010 Edition

January 06, 10 by sharky   30,785  views

Well, it’s that time again to voice our opinion on the latest trackers that have hit the BitTorrent scene during the past month or so. If anything can be said for 2009, at least half of all new trackers die off within a year - but we’ve got some real winners here, including; four new music trackers, a new adult tracker and even three baby Gazelles which are relatively unknown.

Trackers With a Future:

www.asiatorrents.com

AsiaTorrents isn’t exactly a new site - it’s the new location for the popular Avistaz tracker, which switched over to the new domain in December ‘09. AsiaTorrents lists over 100K members and nearly 10,000 torrents.

Our prediction — Like their predecessor Avistaz, expect AsiaTorrents to do extremely well. A plethora of new content continuously pours in; everything is well-seeded; download speeds are great.

http://fddbits.com

Despite using TS-SE sourcecode for a ‘general’ tracker (and let’s be honest; this usually translates to limited success), FddBits has defied the odds. We’re not sure where they came from, or if they’re a reincarnate of another tracker, but FddBits.com is for real. 3,700 torrents have been added in less than 6 weeks (mostly ’scene’) with very decent pretimes & thorough content.

Our prediction — FDD is a Romanian tracker with multi-language support (default is English, except for the forums). Oddly, stats for peers (seed/leech) aren’t reported for each torrent on the browse/details page - but expect to be able to max out your download rate on your home ISP connection for most torrents. Try it, you’ll see.

http://killawaves.org

  • — Category: Music     Codebase: Gazelle
  • — Signup: None

KillaWaveS is a Gazelle-based tracker (actually, a DeepBassNine spinoff site), specializing in high quality rips of Oldskool, Jungle and Drum & Bass music; to a lesser extent house, techno, IDM/ambient and dubstep. KWS, in development since mid-July only recently became available for people to join on 01-01-2010, indexes 1,262 total torrents with 162 enabled users. Two additional screenshots are available here and here.

A proper review (and invites) to KillaWaveS can be found…

  • • In What.CD invite forum for PU’s and up (thread here).
  • • In Waffles.fm invite forum for PU’s and up (thread here).
  • • At TorrentTech (here - available to all).
  • • Through KWS’ IRC invite channel (irc.killahertz.net - #invites) - hotlink here.

Our prediction — Like most Gazelle music trackers, KWS makes the most out of Gazelle’s features by grouping both MP3 and FLAC releases. Media sources for torrents include CD, WEB and Vinyl rips, and only high-quality is allowed (V0, 320 or FLAC). There’s also a continuous radio program which can be listened to via the site or through an external media player (WinAmp, WMP, RP and iTunes are supported).

http://baconbits.org

  • — Category: General     Codebase: Gazelle
  • — Signup: None

Don’t expect BaconBits to open registration anytime soon; you’ll need to be a Redditor (requirements are a 3-month old account on Reddit.com, 100 comment karma, and 1 link karma - all of which are not all that difficult to achieve if you’re an active member there). Redditors who qualify can apply for an invite through this link - their IRC channel #baconbits on p2p-net.eu (hotlink here) has more info; open to all.

Our prediction — Off to a very promising start, BaconBits lists 3,700+ torrents and 5,300 members since launching on December 26th ‘09. One thing that makes BaconBits an absolutely fantastic tracker unlike any other is the vast amount of unique torrents that can’t be found elsewhere. Content is wide-ranged and eclectic - and if you can’t find something, simply post a request for it.

Trackers With Potential:

https://www.p-m-5.com

PM5 is a new tracker for VOSTFR video releases (which stands for Version Originale - Sous-Titre Français) or "original version with French subtitles". This Gazelle indexes 173 torrents since coming online in late November 2009.

Our prediction — If you’re not French, pass on this one. However, something that’s worth noting is that most releases are original (usually English) versions, with hard-coded French subtitles in the video files (TV, films mostly) - so downloaders don’t require a DVD player that supports .srt or .sub files. Hard-coded subs makes this one special.

www.scenepalace.com

Pretty decent start so far for ScenePalace.com - a new scene/P2P tracker with 5,943 members and 1,227 active torrents. Good peers on most of the releases; members can expect to find anywhere from 40-80 new torrents added daily.

Our prediction — Aside from a few problems with the layout (mouseover on site pages is buggy) and an FAQ that hasn’t been changed whatsover - ScenePalace is adequate in indexing most non-spam scene (and P2P) content that’s found on many of the more popular trackers.

www.mptorrents.co.uk

MPTorrents is a new adult tracker, the sister site of family-safe p2pworlds.co.uk. Online since early December ‘09, MPT lists 120 active torrents and 221 members.

Our prediction — It’s nearly impossible for new adult tracker to make it, especially when the heavyweights (Empornium, PureTNA, PussyTorrents) are almost always publicly open for registration.

http://movieszone.org

MoviesZone is a new Romanian/English TBDev tracker for video releases (TV, films, XXX) in HD, XviD and DVDR formats. Lists a total of 461 active torrents since coming online on December 10th, 2009.

Our prediction — With a simplistic design and a sleek layout, expect MoviesZone to do moderately well. In our tests, we achieved DL speeds of ~150KB/s on 1-seed torrents.

http://thedarkscene.org

Online for just over two weeks, TheDarkScene is a new TS-SE sourcecode tracker with 94 torrents and even fewer members. TDS could be considered a ratioless tracker, as everything is marked freeleech until June 30th 2010 (torrents need to be seeded for 24 hours or to a 1:1 ratio). Invites can be requested through their IRC channel at rachael.ca.pchnet.org/#TheDarkScene (hotlink here).

Our prediction — It’s odd that a new tracker with just 90 members would abruptly close public signups in favor of IRC recruitment. Even stranger is the fact that just today, TDS began to add public torrents to the tracker - which completely obscures the impressive peer statistics on the homepage. Closed signups and public torrents?! What kind of fascist tracker is this?

http://datascene.net

DataScene could be the new domain that replaced DataShare.ro - currently lists 564 active torrents and 1,900 members. Over the past two weeks, a low average of 11 new torrents are added to the tracker daily.

Our prediction — Download speeds vary from under 50KB/s to 200+KB/s, depending on the number of seeders (the site doesn’t use a seedbox). Activity here is low (just 982 seeders for 564 torrents = less than 2 seeds per torrent).

www.torrentsnatch.org

Not much going on at TorrentSnatch - just 155 active torrents since December 4th. Most everything indexed is ’scene’.

Our prediction — Only 19 torrents have more than one seed, however most torrents are seedbox-hosted (although this doesn’t guarantee blazing download speeds). At last check, there are less seeders than torrents (140 total seeds for 155 torrents) - which is never a good sign.

http://themusicplay.net

TheMusicPlay (TMP) is a brand-new 0day music tracker with 367 active torrents since December 18th. TMP is Romanian but coded mostly in English.

Our prediction — It’s yet to be established if their cool design can save this one - most music trackers will undoubtedly fail unless they have a niche or good access to scene content.

http://musicthe.net

Another brand-new music tracker which came to life on December 28th ‘09 is MusicThe.net - a Polish/English site with 235 active torrents. While the peerlist is somewhat low, everything appears to be seedbox-hosted. Also, MTn is a ratio-free tracker (all torrents are required to be seeded for a mininum of 60 hours).

Our prediction — Decent start; MusicThe.net has a good layout - torrents on the browse page can be filtered between Polish and non-Polish. Lots of collections and discographies to choose from, as well.

http://torrentpro.net

TorrentPro is a new Italian tracker that’s been online for about two months now, and currently indexes 132 active torrents with 733 members.

Our prediction — For non-Italians, this tracker will be of little use to the average user. You’ll find a lot of XviD (movies) with hard-coded subtitles and other Italian scene releases.

http://www.ukgt.net

Online since January 2nd 2010, UKGT is a new games tracker with 91 members and 58 active torrents. Content includes console, PC and Mac releases - including a few internal torrent packs exclusive to UKGT.

Our prediction — It’s difficult to predict the future of a tracker that is so young, but one thing that’s clear is that all new games trackers have a rough road ahead of them - most simply won’t last.

Other Trackers with Potential

http://torrentplus.net (signup) — A newer Turkish tracker, lists 216 active torrents since 11-21-2009.

http://bit-united.com — New Gazelle tracker for UNiT3D movie encodes - 300 torrents & 2,322 members.

http://www.xnt.nu — Great new 0day scene tracker with 2,200 torrents in less than a week. As of today, public registration is now closed.

http://dutchthis.org — DutchThis.org is new Dutch tracker with just 43 members and 67 torrents since opening on December 24th ‘09. Also worth mentioning is their forum Invites section with recruitment to other trackers as seen below:

Failing Trackers:

http://darkrosse.info

There are some really great Romanian trackers out there, but DarkRosse isn’t one of them. Online for at least two months now, there’s only 75 active torrents on the tracker, and almost no activity whatsoever.

Our prediction — While the site design is pleasant, it seems that staff (and their 388 registered members) have given up on this one. Since Christmas day, only 6 new torrents have been added - not a good sign of things to come. Expect a swift death.

http://lmgtorrents.org

LmgTorrents indexes just 163 active torrents (since December 31st) along with 1,605 members. It’s difficult to predict a positive future of this one - LmgTorrents had been around for a while but only recently has any real new interest appeared.

Our prediction — Absolutely horrendous download speeds (and connectivity) on their torrents - it’s easy to see that nothing here is hosted on a seedbox. This alone will make you want to switch over to just about any other tracker.

Other Failing Trackers

http://www.syncmania.ro — This tracker listed 240 active torrents back on December 7th, but now shows just 136.

http://www.bt-pt.net — Portuguese tracker, indexes just 177 torrents since November.

http://beatsound.org — Music tracker based on TBDev that shows 475 "active" torrents since November 27th (but only 220 are seeded). An average of 10 new daily torrents won’t get it done for a music tracker.

http://www.bittoxic.com — A "private" tracker that indexes public torrents.

http://podzemlje.info — Serbian tracker; just 25 torrents since 2009-12-25.

http://29m-team.net — Lists 257 torrents (only 5 - that’s right, 5 - have a seeder). What’s with all the aXXo torrents tagged as ’scene’ ?!

torrentsnatch.org is inevitably going to be on the failing trackers list.
The entire rules and FAQ section has been copied word for word from TorrentLeech
Most of the torrents have little to no movement, and the forum section is non-existent.
The last time I checked, they had wait times in their torrent section.
Please don’t be fooled by the glamorous artwork on their front page as I was, because that’s the only thing that looks original on their site.

Not a single tracker on the list looks enticing. FddBits.com looked like it might be an option until you mentioned the no seeder/leecher stats on the search page. That information is important if you are looking to build a healthy ratio. What reason would they have to exclude it?

  5. 05   •   Cenn Says:

FDDBits is the old tracker FDD.ro (you can type fdd.ro in address bar and you’ll see that), which has a history of approx. 2-3 years in Romania. So it is more like a facelift. In the past, FDD was a ratio-free tracker. I don’t know why they don’t list S/L users now… Hace a nice day…

Noob question: why does the sites codebase matter? In these review I often see something like “X codebade usually means limited success” or “a site running X code is sure to succeed”, but whats the difference between ‘Gazelle’ and TBDev’ etc. that actually makes a difference with the site itself (which I usually judge by content, users, and things of that sort)?

  14. 014   •   omg Says:

thedarkscene.org I’d not touch that one with a barge pole. Anyone who sets up a tracker from a country with anti-piracy groups and strong copyright laws, and then leaves their whois data unprotected is a real noob. Unbelievable, won’t last long that one!

Thanks for getting my tracker (which was still in test face) flooded with invite beggers. all thanks to that lovely screenshot. from now on registration is closed. DUTCH people who are interested in more than only invites to other trackers can always pm me for more information.

you sign up then they ban no reason given at all
    what a crap

  20. 020   •   abs0lut3 Says:

well, I don’t understand why is it said that nameless dutch tracker has a potential, because it has only 67 torrents and they arent any good at all =\

  21. 021   •   Rable Says:

200 people registrate in a few hours, just because they see that screenshot of the invite offer. 200 people who don’t even speak dutch. Guess what they were looking for?
I think the staff at what.cd agrees with me by not inviting every random guy who pms me with ‘pm me to what.cd myspam@email.com‘.
If you register at a tracker without the intention of using it, i don’t see how you can be supprised if you get kicked off.

  22. 022   •   RandomGuy Says:

you dont have to explain yourself to the n00bs RABLE.. your tracker your rules and im betting your 100% right about most of them only after invites

  23. 023   •   RemingtonBlue Says:

Killawaves have really got off on the wrong foot. Their main admin has been going round calling scene releases ‘lame’ and rubbishing other respected tracker admins, a couple of which are involved in two other big trackers as well as a smaller site. As a new startup, their karma is not good i’m afraid.

All the same, good luck to all in this list, it’s tough out there! Help each other folks and stay friendly :)

  24. 024   •   doh Says:

    http://www.ukgt.net???????????????/where is it
goto site n u get admin login page??like wtf????
come on guys do reviews on sites that are actualy open

  25. 025   •   Rable Says:

    @RemingtonBlue

as far as i know, he’s only calling scene standards rubbish. and as far as i know, bitrate preferences are still relative.

and he’s not the only one rubbishing these other ‘respected’ admins. maybe you know how they banned him (and me) after such a long dedication, with no reason specified. complain about anything and you’re out, that’s how it goes on that tracker.
this particular tracker also doesn’t have the best name at other trackers, since they don’t really share the same ideals as most trackers.

  28. 028   •   andy Says:

    @RemingtonBlue

killawaves is a good site, why you say it start off on wrong foot.

the criticism of scene is because of low bitrate standards, killawaves is for high bitrate only. they criticise only one admin of another torrent site for bad management.

killawaves is a good place with good torrents and the site works well too.

I don’t think - and hope at the same time - that Rable will give his e-mail here. If you’re part of What.cd you can get this information through their forums. Your account will also prove immediately if you’re worth it or not.

I am very glad there finally is a tracker focussing on dutch content. Also, I heard rumours of a similar tracker, running Gazelle, in the making.

    Great job, Rable.

  41. 041   •   TheDarkScene Says:

KK you might want to visit a tracker more then once before you make your predictions. The Dark Scene did close registrations for about 4 days to work out a tracker and announce problem hence the so called public torrents that were uploaded there,
This problems have been fixed the tracker announce fixed and we now have 154 members with 105 torrents. And that number is going to change drastically as we have added 2 new seedbox uploaders with over 6tb of files that will be going up.
The site was hung 2 days before Christmas, opened signups 2 days before New Years, So all in all we are very pleased with the progress of the site, while your judgement is based on quantity we are striving to base it on quality, and the growing pains that many sites go through are no different then our site, rather then take the site off line, it was easier to close registrations till the problem was sorted. This way our users could still use the forums (37 threads 214 posts), etc.
So I invite you to come back and check the site again, the idea that catching a site on a one time visit and judging it from one brief visit on a site that at the time of the visit was less then 10 days old is an unfair assessment of the sites true character, or goals.
So our prediction is while 95% of new trackers fail in their first year I will make it a point to come back and see if you still think that we are a “public” fascist tracker lol.

  43. 043   •   Rable Says:

Don’t worry TheDarkScene, all FSF likes to do is spread tracker information without notifying or asking the owners, and ‘test’ ratio cheats (and advertise them then) on trackers. A positive feedback on FSF will just attract the wrong people.
