ScL is Back Online, But Torrentless

Just a quick shoutout to all you ScL fans - ScL is now back online. But don’t jump up and down for joy just yet. The downtime has taken a toll on the site as it would appear as though they’ve lost all torrents. After nearly 7 long weeks of downtime, most of the site has been salvaged except for the torrents which unfortunately seem to be unrecoverable.
A senior staff member has now confirmed, "torrents are gone sorry, that part of the database got corrupted so only way to bring back ScL was to scrap that part." The latest message on their home/news page now reads:
Dear ScL Members,
As you know we have been down for some time now, and We are able to bring the site back to give our members some official updates.
So please stay tuned and check often for updates — ScL crew
It’s still unclear if (or when) ScL did a rollback to an earlier database (or even repaired it) but evidence would certainly support this, since many older forum posts date back to January 1st, 2010. The depot section, which was merged with the rest of the torrents on 12-29-2009, doesn’t exist which indicates their DB doesn’t predate this.
Whether or not the return of ScL is permanent or not, we’ll just have to wait. One "field officer" (aka FLS ’staff member’) wrote today, "This may only be temporary guys, don’t get too excited" in a forum thread entitled Welcome Back!!
ScL’s IRC server/network can be temporarily found at 72.20.15.236 - a big thanks to the reader below who let us know.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. Only problem is that a lot of people here allow their assholes to do the talking for them.
Amongst other things, ScL was a great community. People don’t like it, then fuck off. No one is keeping you there! Go start your own tracker, then go cry me a fuckin river when shit happens to your tracker.
Props to the hard working staff at ScL who have kept everyone updated while this shit is going down.

aam, ScL had really bad pre times. torrents showed up really late. i think their uploaders download from other sites, and the to ScL. no ftp servers. no nothing. but oh well, just my thoughts.

A lot of people with opinions, but zero from someone with any insight whatsoever. Just the usual bullshit :). One thing is for sure though. There’s a lot of kids out there pissed at the ScL staff for not letting them cheat or in other ways abuse their tracker, but i can’t say that i blame them :P. People saying that they don’t care about their members are just full of shit and probably part of that group of kids.
Time will tell whether ScL is back to stay or not, but i wish them the best of luck!
