Diligent work on a covert project spanning
back nearly 8 full months has finally paid off - the SceneLife crew are
now ready to unveil their latest tracker, simply titled ”The X”.
Some will call this “ScL v2”, when in fact The X is an entirely
different (and better) site than its predecessor, in every way. Old
staff (and new) have come together to create this brand-new &
exciting 0sec/scene tracker - the first of its kind to be powered by
ScT’s unreleased ScTBDev sourcecode. Also known as just X, it’s
also the only known tracker in existence to begin life with more than
15,000 active torrents, all before opening the door.
The X isn’t just another run-of-the-mill scene tracker. While we aren’t permitted to include screenshots of the tracker in action - nor expose the URL/full name - we’re able to conclude that X is delightfully sexy. It’s a designer’s dream; aesthetically, X is somewhat of a mashup between the old ScL with some subtle overtones of SqN and ScT thrown into the mix. Cosmetics aside, X isn’t just about being eyecandy - there also happens to be some amazing features under the hood of this one.
‘The X’ - A Bit of History…
The idea for ‘X‘ can be traced back to at least September 2009, when ScL staff agreed to move away from absentee ownership and other irreparable internal problems. Truth be told - ScL had been struggling for quite some time, and it was finally announced on 03/31/2010 that SceneLife would cease to exist as we know it.
However, active development of a new tracker had already commenced prior to the official announcement. Staff at ”X” (ex-ScL’ers & others) have some connections. With assistance from unnamed former SceneTorrents’ staff, the crew obtained the new ScTDBev codebase months in advance of its intended public release. 2½ months ago - work began to create X, the first tracker ever to implement ScTBDev.
‘The X’ - Features…
It’s difficult to go into detail in order to explain a tracker without being able to include screenies. Regardless, here’s some of the cool features…
**15,600 torrents on opening
.** Crazy as it may seem but ‘X’ already has a huge selection of untouched scene-release torrents. All active; all ready to download.
**Separated Packs
.** “X” has just one main torrent browse page, but “packs” are completely split into their own horizontal section of the browse, making it dead simple to differentiate packs from the rest of the cats. Packs include anime, games, music, movies & other.
**Great download speeds
.** Forget about 100Mbit - torrents are hosted on multiple 1 Gbit full-duplex servers. Yep, all 15K. Great download speeds to be had by all!
**Both the site and tracker are SSL
**. Profile settings allow members to opt to browse ‘X’ via https, or use the https tracker (or both). There’s even an option to use an alternate tracker port to bypass problems associated with transparent proxies.
**Unique Userclass Advancement
**. Without giving away too much info, activity on the site (and tracker) is requisite for transcending in user class/rank. Be sure to check out the FAQ.
**No Ratio Whores
/ No Collectors
.** An ongoing problem that plagued ScL is that it was full of collectors. That is; a majority of members signed up but never actually used the tracker. We can assure you that this has now been fixed.
Getting Into X …
As expected, registration to The X is not open directly - and probably never will be. Here’s what we know so far…
• IRC recruitment. Potential members can apply through a short IRC interview.
- Network: irc.p2p-net.eu
- Channel: #x.interviews
- Hotlink: irc.p2p-net.eu/x.interviews
• Active & loyal ScL members might soon be invited to the new site automatically. We can’t disclose the actual number of ex-ScL’er who will be invited to the new digs but if you were an active member, keep an eye on your inbox. It’s been rumoured that ~10% of ScL’ers may be invited, but we can’t confirm this.
• Check for recruitment in other tracker forums in the near future. What.CD is a great start; Waffles & BTN are others.
Thoughts on X …
Some will argue that there’s really no need for another 0day/scene tracker, but we beg to differ. While there are literally dozens of “scene” trackers, there are only a handful that are able to successfully combine excellent pretimes & thoroughness along with a strong, active community. The loss of ScT left an opening; these are big shoes to fill but The X is certainly up to the task.
“The X Trailer” video is best viewed in 1080p (here).
David Darling Says:
suckssssssssssss
another junky tracker who will live for 1-2 month then dies and burns in hell.
Eric Says:
The X loooool
The D = The D!ick =)
OHAiTHARU Says:
Looks great so far
Wish them the best of luck ^_^
backie Says:
Right, so their 1st tracker died a slow and painful death. What do they do, go create another tracker to fill-full the exact same needs. At least when the CoR/BTN mob promptly went to create a new tracker they at least changed niche.
ricky martin Says:
trailer is super ghey
Jenna Says:
Wow David Darling, bitter much?
lmfao Says:
A trailer? Really? See my name above!
dstrukt.nine Says:
The site is actually pretty awesome! I definitely think it will be the next ScT based on whats going on right now; they’re off to a great start and the members they did invite are active, ex-ScL members and a few staffers from other trackers thrown into the mix.
Jay Says:
Looks promising. Creating a trailer for it was an interesting approach, hehe. GL to them
heshan Says:
This is a new tracker ….. signup now……………….!!!!
http://www.torrentsnatch.org/signup.php?ref=heshan
Taco Bell lol Says:
So if I had an account at ScL but was not chosen should I do the interview?
??????? Says:
Has anyone received an invite via email yet? Are the old uploaders/snipers going to be invited? Any time frame as to when we would know we are not among the chosen few? Even if I don’t make it back in… best of luck to them. The old ScL forum had some of the best off topic conversations around, some non typical tracker topics.
nice Says:
The trailer seems very familiar but I cant seem to place it…..
Oh ya, now i remember. http://www.videocopilot.net/products/dsfx/
I wish you luck with the tracker but the trailer could have used a bit more creativity
strelok Says:
torrent site + video trailer = FAiL
Righi Says:
Big FAIL video…
ThPTz Says:
What makes this different from all the other 0day trackers out there? Don’t know if I want just another 0day tracker in my bookmarks
human Says:
yeah, i kinda wanted to say the same about the trailer. big time fail, no creativity at all. atleast you (makers of the trailer) could have added something interesting or new to that andrew kramers after effects project.
SHITHEAD Says:
url? somebody put some fuckin screenies on peekinsi.de!
Taco Bell lol Says:
I love everybody saying shit about the trailer. It probably took them like 5 minutes to make, and made just for the laughs and everyone says it sucks. No other tracker has their own trailer, so I say this is the best trailer for a tracker ever by fact.
Interview Says:
anyone got in through interview?
HELLO Says:
Please provide some screenshots
thisone Says:
*application sent*
well then, let the waiting begin … ^^
FILE Says:
I used mbbit and my ip is banned.I cant go to interview channel with mirc.
ROFL Says:
WTF they think they are Sparta aka X lol
now they wanna be pay2leech topsite X for the masses ( maybe even jimbo is a sysop roflmao )
Alex Says:
This will probably fail as much as ScL did.
Frenko Says:
I think that best way is open signup, they can get more members at least twice, ex scl was need more members, so members are everything for a tracker.
RG45SEII Says:
Great news.
rhys Says:
So much for inviting the current ScL members, i suppose thats the thanks we get for being loyal and sticking by a tracker that was dieing , thanks guys !
mitraark Says:
ah the sick child of bt world is back with its new cover and same lame admins
scl always sucked, so will this stupid tracker
sharky why you serving to these scambag ex scl admins? they aint worth your time
ksauron Says:
wish em luck with the new site..
At least they acknowledged the issues which plagued the last site, and have worked towards eliminating them..
Now, that does deserve some appreciation..

On any other tracker this would be called SPAM and not counted!
I’m not saying the tracker isn’t great, I’m just saying, what’s wrong with saying “new tracker - 500 torrents - nice design - looks promising”? Why always this tendency to hype a new tracker only to have serious backlash from disappointed people who thought those 15k torrents were legitimate ones?
a/s/l Says:
this looks suspicious. you’ll see. i’m holding off on this.
Bob Says:
Well, if you round all the comments up: stolen trailer + useless torrents + bad staff = why does this tracker get it’s own article?
I love piracy to much to not give these guy’s my best of luck, but come on… really?
dontcare Says:
what bob said. the fuck, guys…the fuck?
oh and btw, i’d like to develop on the trailer matter. couldnt care less that it’s stolen, but having a trailer for a tracker is the lamest thing i’ve ever heard of. srsly, i joined scl the first day it came out (liked the looks, but i knew it was fail right then and there) and this is even more fail than that. take this shit and stick it up your arses.
Common Sense Says:
Does anyone still care about the scene?
The scene release software/games/video/music (and some miscellaneous stuff), but with respect to video and music, they’re outdated. We live in the age of 50Mbit connections and 10TB hard drives, and this will only continue to improve. People are looking for Web / CD / Vinyl rips in lossless quality - no-one wants a shitty 192 vinyl rip or 720p camcorder rip anymore. This might have been popular 10 years ago when people still had dial up, but technology has advanced hugely; the scene should either advance with it or stop doing these crappy rips and just stick to releasing software and game - stuff that isn’t affected by encoding quality.
Why the hell create a site of this calibre for something so minimal anyway? From this hugely promotional article, and the somewhat cheesy trailer, one would consider this site to be the new home of perfection, where there are millions of torrents all in lossless quality. Instead you get 8,000 music torrents of scene standard quality - ThePirateBay has more to offer than this. OK they have 1gbit seedboxes, but tbh I’m prepared to wait more than 5 seconds to download a torrent. I’d be prepared to wait hours, even days to get something I wanted. Considering a typical scene release: a 4 track EP in v2 (vbr) format, that’s about 30MB. How long would that take to download, even on a slow shitty connection? Minutes. I don’t care if they have their torrents on a 1gbit connection - for what they are offering, it’s pointless. If all the torrents were lossless and around 1GB each, then yes I’d see the full advantage of a 1Gbit connection.
Whoever it is who has conceived, built and joined this site, should urgently wake up and smell the coffee - you’re seriously deluded if you think it’s some kind of 1337 site, it’s just a glorified blog with direct links to a few scene releases. In fact, I’d prefer that - at least i wouldn’t have to worry about ratio.
Oh yes, lets not forget, it’s inevitable that anything this site has to offer will be spread around the internet in a few hours/days, so I really don’t see why this site is so amazing.

Since this is a scene tracker it’s more likely that several sites will already have the content before they do, and most scene sites will all have it within several minutes of each other.
ProperCommonSense Says:
@Common Sense
Did it ever occur to you that not everyone in the world has the luxury of home connection speeds through the roof, a never ending supply of huge hard drives, and non-existant monthly data caps?
Where I live, HDD’s cost a bit. Enough to limit me to one or two 1TB drives a year, if I’m lucky. I also pay in excess of $150 a month for my connection, yet that only gives me 80GB data up/down combined at a speed of 10Mb/s down and 2Mb/s up… shit compared to the rest of the world. Extra data over the cap is charged out at $2.95 per 2GB. Seeding from home to build ratio wasn’t only a hassle, it was hugely expensive… so much so that I started using a $50 a month seedbox a couple months back and have ended up SAVING myself money. To me, small file size is hugely important, and as such, scene releases are prefered.
I say expand the scene to better encompass lossless music and 1080P video, but not at the expense of what is already there. As the scene is currently, it is providing an invaluable service to many many torrenters around the world.

I don’t like the design. It’s too dark and hard to concentrate. I didn’t like the design of SceneLife either.
All the icons for torrent catregories are too comlicated. It’s hard tell one from another. Maybe it’s just the first impression and I need to get used to it.
I hope the launch of this site will be successful. I wish you good luck guys!
PS those 15 000 torrents are mostly mp3 and apps. There’re about 100 really useful torrents
thisone Says:
pfffff at least they could make the entire site freeleech until the launch, ratiobuilding from 0 (packs aren’t freeleech either atm) is kinda pointless …

Final note on ScL….
Shutting down - 2010-04-23
Dear Members
Our new project has finally gone public. We are glad to announce that we have invited our best, most loyal and most trusted users from ScL. Unfortunately we couldn’t invite all our ScL members, and there are several reasons for that. As many of you know, sadly we had many collectors in our userbase. Around 4700 of our 9800 userbase were users who barely did anything besides logging in to prevent being banned. So to those users – You didn’t think of us, therefore we didn’t think of you either.
As mentioned we invited all our finest and most loyal users on ScL. This leaves out the group between these loyal users and those bad collectors, which is a group of around 2000 people. This group is not a bad group, they weren’t collectors, and we are willing to give them a fair chance to join:
We are willing to give all our members a chance for a freshstart. For invites to the new tracker, you need to be interviewed. For interviews go to:
Server: irc.p2p-net.eu
#x.interviews
Once your there, read the topic and you’ll know what to do.
IMPORTANT: We have a very strict activity policy - so unless you plan to be active, don’t even bother applying.
To all of you whom got invited – Welcome to the new tracker. To the rest of you – thanks for a wonderful time here at ScL. We will never forget this tracker and will always take a proud look back, despite the problems we had during the last months.
With all that said, the site will shutdown in 24 hours – So now is the time to say your final goodbyes.
We wish you all the very best of luck in life for the future.
Take care,
SceneLife crew from 2007-2010

Wait a couple of months (or, hopefully, weeks) for the inevitable scene-notice about this crappy pay-to-leech site and its inevitable demise, when their “elite” source is exposed as a pay-to-leech site and their racers/affils are banned from their respective sources.
@070: Better yet, tell them to stop piggy-backing off of the scene. If they’re so goddamn elite, how come they can’t make their own rips/cracks?
Do something useful instead of ripping off all these kids with your demands for “donations” — as if they don’t get enough money from the people that’s paying for leech accounts on the multi-gigabit ftp they’re also using for the torrents… and stop claiming to be something out of the ordinary. You’re just another steaming pile of shit in the so called “torrent scene”.
