Fanboys of SceneDDL and xldr.net now have another option for finding fresh scene releases, and that’s at NewSceneFiles.net. NewSceneFiles is a new autopost service that provides one of the fastest turnarounds on Pre’s to direct download links. In less than 6 weeks since launching, NewSceneFiles already lists an impressive 3,300+ releases, for an average of about 80 new releases each day.
Here’s some great news for those who prefer to download (leech) scene releases from 1-click hosters instead of using torrents - two popular scene-to-DDL sites are back up and running. This couldn’t have come at a better time, with the new season’s TV fall lineup just beginning to kick off. AfterPre, which took a 5-month hiatus has now returned; and SceneDDL recently launched a kickass new beta.
Not everything that’s out there can be found as a torrent - that’s why release blogs and warez forums do amazingly well. Warez-bb.org alone offers literally millions of separate topics, with each one containing a downloadable release - numbers that by far eclipse even the most prolific public torrent indexers. So where are all these releases being offered for download? On those so-called 1-Click Hoster sites. Here’s a current list of the top 100 free file hosting sites on the ‘net.
There wasn’t nary a website on the interwebs that could claim the bragging rights to what SceneDDL did. Using sophisticated software, upload bots, and really great scene connections - SceneDDL tirelessly pumped out hundreds of scene releases day-after-day straight to Rapidshare, Easy-Share, MegaUpload et al. - faster than most torrent sites could ever dream of having access. Sadly, this August 17th marked the day when SceneDDL.net called it an end to new posts.
There’s not a site on the Internet that can claim what SceneDDL.net accomplishes. Not a single one. No, they don’t index DDL (direct download links) like thousands of faceless sites. They create them. No, they’re not a "release blog" that waits for affiliate comments to post or upload valid working links to RS, MU. When it comes to pretimes, SceneDDL beats out blogs and even competes with the some of best ’scene’ torrent trackers. SceneDDL uses a unique autoposter feature: to oversimplify this process, they take scene releases from topsite sources (not from trackers) and index these releases on the site while uploading the files to multiple file hosters at the same time. What’s remarkable is that the entire process is completely automated; the end result is the fastest turnaround time for ‘scene releases to direct download links’ found on the Internet. Hands down, warez forums & scene/P2P release blogs provide the best source for valid, accurate working direct download links from file hosting services such as RapidShare, MegaUpload, FileFactory and countless others. Curiously enough, however, the sites that reign as the most popular choice for DDL seekers are ‘1-click hoster’ search engines, many of which eclipse any DDL forum or blog. One clear example is RapidLibrary.com which provides searching for RapidShare links only; and despite this, continues to receive much more traffic than the impossibly popular Warez-bb.org.
The truth is - the general public isn’t exactly well-informed in regards to where to find the real goodies; and search engines are counting on that. Many popular RapidShare engines are nothing more than a modified Google search using specific operators; others are generic web scripts that offer nothing special. In any event, here’s our picks for the Top 25 Direct Download search engines.
The upside to scene/P2P blog-style release sites is that you usually won’t have to register in order to view the links. By their very nature, they’re more enticing to look at than browsing through threads on a generic vbulletin forum. However, the downside to release blogs is that everything is mixed together (movies, apps, games are added on-the-fly) and you’ll need to conduct specific searches or use the site’s categories to narrow things down. But if speed (pretime) is a major factor when looking for DDL/RapidShare links, good release blogs will usually beat out most forums, and dead links will often be edited or replaced with new live links in the comments.
Perhaps second only to BitTorrent in terms of filesharing growth are 1-click hosters such as RapidShare, MegaUpload & other direct download link (DDL) providers. More than ever, P2Pers are discovering the advantages of using HTTP to download in contrast to public torrents - and for good reason: DDLs don’t have ‘peerlists’ whereby your IP address is easily pinned down; speeds are generally better; and there’s so much more variety. And downloaders know a thing or two about where to find the latest warez - be it on release blogs, RapidShare warez forums or plain old RS search & DDL index sites. There’s wait times, slow download speeds, captcha, and one-file-at-a-time limitations that’ll leave you begging to go back to Mininova. Realistically, there’s very little anyone can do to circumvent most of these handicaps (aside from purchasing premium), but at least we can automate the downloading process with some innovative Firefox Greasemonkey userscripts. RS AutoWait is one such script that successfully runs in the background to provide a hands-free approach to free RapidShare downloading. RS Links Checker goes through all of the DDL links on a webpage, displaying if they’re valid or not before you click them.
